  2. KVL - Volume 1 [Astral Spirits/Monofonus/Spacetone, 2019]
  3. Yes I was thinking the same when listening to it. Yusef Lateef - Into Something [New Jazz, mono]
  4. Rashied Ali/Frank Lowe - Duo Exchange, Complete Sessions [Survival Records, 2020]
  5. No, different David Lee. Bass and cello, on this LP.
  6. And the second Anteloper was better than the first too, I think. She was going somewhere good, so sad
  7. Sonny Simmons - Rumsuma [Contemporary, 1970] Bill Lee - Pick A Number [Onari, Canada 1979]
  8. Yes, there's an element of that as I was able to put the money towards a few big ticket titles I'd hankered after for sometime. 100 out, 5 in! I'm not sure it's near "very refined" yet, there's still 1750+ of them...
  9. no, a very nice man came from the shop and collected them, on his bike! Atlantis.
  10. Space is a major issue in a small London flat (apartment). There was no more room on the shelves, the floor or in the storage cupboard in the kitchen! 100 went and I have to say it was really quite easy to prune that many. I have a tendency to buy lots of albums by an artist when I first get into them, I trimmed a few that were over-represented and also some that i just don't listen to or were unlikely to. I'd never really enjoyed the Hemphill since buying it on release, I'm left with enough by him still to enjoy. I found the exercise pretty liberating and had a very pleasant selling experience - I wasn't looking for lots of money just the space. I'm already considering titles for the next hundred.
  11. Jack DeJohnette's Special Edition - Audiovisualscapes [Impulse, 1988] prompted by @HutchFan's blog. 34 years ago, no!
  12. Craig Harris And Tailgaters tales - Shelter [JMT, West Germany 1987] Not too sure how well this stands the test of time, certainly Harris's vocals edit to add: the non-vocal tracks are pretty strong
  13. DeJohnette survived this month's big LP clearout, Hemphill didn't...I don't know the Harrell I also remember having to return warped copies of the DeJohnette, I think the one I kept is still warped!
  14. Wailing Souls - Fire House Rock [Greensleeves, 1981 UK]
  15. Yes. That also has a great cover
  16. Jackie McLean & Michael Carvin - Antiquity [Steeplechase, Denmark 1975] finally a nice vinyl replacement for the MP3 I've lived with for too long. Love this album
  17. Hans Koller - Vision [Saba, Germany 1966] Lovely album, too short
  18. The Rod Levitt Orchestra - Dynamic Sound Patterns [Fontana, Netherlands 1965, mono] Finally completed my Marte Röling collection until someone tells me that the mythical Ayler release actually exists....
  19. Barbara Donald & Unity - Olympia Live [cadence, 1982] Every time I listen to this i think I must track down the other Donalds. This listen inspired by Jaimie B RIP
  20. Thanks folks. Day 4 and symptoms are easing now so looking good. Given me some listening time, at least LPs 3 & 4. Still sounds great
  21. Thank God we're not weird over here
  22. Nice piece by Chinen https://www.npr.org/2022/08/24/1119174908/jaimie-branch-trumpet-obituary
  23. My God, this is so tragic. I'm completely shocked, what horrible, horrible news. Anteloper were due at Oto next week. Her personality shone through even on Twitter ffs. Such brightness, dimmed 'Fly Or Die' at Oto was one of the great evenings. I followed her music since a Tim Daisy album and have rated everything she has recorded.
  24. You do! A couple of streams convinced me I needed to be more dilettante, and for a tenner...maybe it's the fevered mind though, day 3. Thanks for wishes, fingers crossed it doesn't get any worse and I can just ride it out with more West Coast goodness
