  1. Honestly, I can't split them. When I want to listen to them I usually make a blind grab. It may be more about availability.
  2. Start anywhere with Musician, all the albums are very high quality. if you want a title then 'Poem about a hero' should see you right Can't think of that Dean band off the top of my head, will have a think. Quick Discogs search turns up these but not a lot else, couple of duo albums and a sax quartet. Perhaps it went unrecorded https://www.discogs.com/release/2779642-Elton-Dean-Quintet-Silent-Knowledge https://www.discogs.com/release/2314796-Elton-Dean-Paul-Dunmall-Tony-Levin-2-Paul-Rogers-2-Roswell-Rudd-Keith-Tippett-Bladik
  3. I think I probably bought the LP following your enthusiasm for it, thank you!
  4. Track 6. is 'Jog Falls Spinning Song' from Gil Mellé's Tome VI I'm pleased my comments were positive about as I have a copy! I have just played it to confirm. Thanks for the hints and sleuthing above
  5. Gil Mellé - Tome VI [Verve, 1968] doing research for @JSngry's BFT...I'd forgotten how good this album is
  6. Yes, and yes again. I'd had three doses and I caught it a couple of months ago. Two days feeling very unwell indeed (far worse than flu) several just under par and a couple of weeks of hangover fatigue. I have an underlying chronic condition of the lungs so had been doing my utmost to avoid it but it got me nonetheless. I was so pleased I'd had the vaccine doses as without I would probably have been in hospital. Booster next week for me.
  7. Theaster Gates & The Black Monks Of Mississippi at Serpentine Pavillion Just extraordinary
  8. I played my copy for the first time in ages recently and noticed the cover variation too. I prefer the European cover which is a shame as my copy is the US one. Off hand I can't think of other such ECM variants but I've not looked...yet 😀
  9. Wadada Leo Smith - String Quartets Nos. 1-12 [TUM Records, 2022] disc.1, start of a long journey
  10. This one, perhaps? https://jamaaladeentacuma.bandcamp.com/album/the-liberation-of-sound

    Tomeka Reid

Two albums on Corbett v Dempsey, advertised in recent Wire. Two duo with Joe McPhee, the other with Longberg-Holm.

    Tomeka Reid

Definitely. Two new albums coming too
  13. I have only seen LPs mentioned at Sounds Of The Universe, London shop, apologies
  14. Papa Wemba Father John Misty Old Man River
  15. Fabulous, album from my teenage listening. Mott the Hoople are much underrated I think
  16. Dave Holland Trio - Triplicate [ECM, Germany 1988] This has aged well, interesting to hear Coleman again away from his own groups.
  17. I've been streaming that Grant Green a lot recently, building up to a Tone Poet purchase Lloyd on Blue Note is very different to Lloyd in ECM to my ears. Different bands and to some extent different approach. I prefer the ECM releases, there's great depth in that run, but like the BN enough apart from 'Wild Man dance' which I heard as a misstep. I disagree about 'Ocean' as I don't hear any noodling. Pharoah Sanders - Africa [Timeless, Netherlands 1987] My first Pharoah LP, I think, purchased on release
  18. Luis Garcia - For Those Who Chant [Blue Thumb Records, 1972] This is great, Latin Miles meets Santana with Joe Henderson, what more could you ask for on a sunny Autumn day in London town. Thanks to @jazzbowhose post in another thread of this prompted my purchase
  19. I don't know that one, as good as I might expect? Have the others shrunk in the wash?
  20. Fish Marillion Kid Millions
  21. Barry Galbraith - Guitar And The Wind, maybe? Some great music across those selections John Abercrombie featured in Kenny Wheeler's Large Ensemble and then John Paracelli later on
  22. Good work, hope it generates the interest it deserves Coincidentally I only just recently moved on my copy of 'Solos'. May spring for a digital replacement
  23. UK, and possibly, European seekers after this should look at Honest Jon's website
