  1. paul secor is still sorely missed here. I learnt about some great music from his posts

    Evan Parker

That sounds great Pim, an opportunity not to be missed I saw him with Lovens and Schlippenbach once and Lovens was fantastic. He doesn't travel much these days so Lytton usually makes up the trio over here. You'll just have to empty the bank account on Evan recordings before your wife goes shopping 😀
  3. Theaster Gates - 1965: Malcolm In Winter: A Translation Exercise at the White Cube https://www.whitecube.com/gallery-exhibitions/theaster-gates-bermondsey-2025 Every time I see a Gates show it leaves a big impression, this did the same. Followed by, Picasso: Printmaker at British Museum https://www.britishmuseum.org/exhibitions/picasso-printmaker
  4. That makes me feel young and old at the same time. I loved it on release
  5. I wonder how mindful those of us with English as a first language (and yes that includes US English 😃) are of our friends who aren't posting in their first language, not least because their English is usually so good. It's so easy for nuance and subtlety to get lost online, even if we were all native speakers
  6. That would be a great shame if so.
  7. The Brass Company - Colors [Strata East, USA 1975]
  8. I'd forgotten about that, a fine band
  9. One of our most prolific posters hasn't posted since 9th February and I for one miss his input and knowledge. I hope he's just away on a long holiday. Anyone know of his wellbeing?
  10. Donald Byrd - Black Byrd [Blue Note, USA 1973] Ridiculously good this
  11. I haven't heard a lot of her music but that I have I found involving and in parts challenging
  12. That almost exactly describes my blind (deaf) spot with her, even in ensembles except Paradoxical Frog
  13. Thanks, I'll check that out
  14. Almost worth the tenner for the cover photo
  15. Which is why, I think, I just dip in and out occasionally fairly safe in the knowledge whatever is there at the time is going to be worth hearing. Thanks for prompting the most recent dip
  16. Recent-ish releases I've enjoyed https://www.discogs.com/release/27671295-Barry-Guy-Blue-Shroud-Band-All-This-This-Here https://www.discogs.com/master/3358678-Evan-Parker-Barry-Guy-So-It-Goes https://www.discogs.com/release/32594670-Sergio-Armaroli-Francesca-Gemmo-Barry-Guy-At-Sotto-Il-Mare-First-Visit And two I now want to hear having just visited his Discogs pages https://www.discogs.com/release/32222589-Savina-Yannatou-Floros-Floridis-Barry-Guy-Ramón-López-Kouartéto https://www.discogs.com/master/3649200-Barry-Guy-Barry-Guy-Plays-
  17. Is the music on them both as good as the covers? Hope so
  18. Perfect start to the day. I might just follow suit
  19. That sounds horrible. I hope the symptoms begin to finish soon and your family don't kick you out beforehand 😃
  20. And I bought a copy because of its inclusion
  21. I'm waiting on the Sorey/Perelman duets album, arriving tomorrow Meantime I'm enjoying this, a lot https://www.discogs.com/release/32594670-Sergio-Armaroli-Francesca-Gemmo-Barry-Guy-At-Sotto-Il-Mare-First-Visit I picked up this today but not really given it a good listen yet https://lukestewart.bandcamp.com/album/the-mythstory-school
  22. Interesting line-up. I shall have to investigate
  23. So much great music. He was the soundtrack to the Jazz Dance/Acid Jazz/Rare Groove scene over here in the 80s which where I first heard him. But the leader albums on Atlantic and the work with Mann became my favourite
