  1. Nice haul Pim. Who's the seller? I didn't have any money from relations but still managed to order A 1959 issue of Brubeck's 'Time Out'. Just the cover design alone is worth the entry price but I love the music An original press of Mingus 'Tonight At Noon' because I'm on such a big Mingus trip at the moment and for the same reason Dannie Richmond Quartet - Ode to Mingus which I've really been surprised by and enjoying through streaming this holiday. All from UK sellers so no Brexit-tax issues
  2. Yep, it would make life easier and reduce storage issues. I may try it as a new year resolution (Although the others by that band are very good too...)
  3. A real giant Certainly seems to be gaining traction online that he has died. And I'm sure Mark at Confront would be very sure before confirming. I saw that Oxley, Taylor, Braxton concert too, extraordinary. Also saw him at RFH with Bill Dixon, extraordinary again. Over recent years I've bought a number of releases on Confront and Discus and never been disappointed. Such a long and fruitful career. If I was at home with my LPs 'Ichnos' and '4 Compositions' would be on this evening.
  4. Yes, I'm seeing those too. Someone has update his Wikipedia page with yesterday as day of death. Let's hope it's wrong. A total giant of the music
  5. Thanks Niko. I may have to put an order together
  6. Are we taking beer or LPs? 😄 It makes me want to try the beer at least Just did a search, UK price is £20 for 330ml, is it really that good?
  7. I have always loved 'One World' as it was my entry point. I agree the earlier recordings are the strong run but I now find lots to like in some of the later albums too
  8. I've been enjoying digging into Sergio Armaroli's discography a bit more recently. Two interesting Hat Art releases Armaroli, Minton, Schiaffini, Turner - 'I Dream I Was A European' and his Quartet Prismo disc with Fritz Hauser, Martina Brodbeck, Francesca Gemmo There's others worth a listen on Leo too
  9. I think she kept the politics for her online posts, thankfully. I'm not sure I'd stomach it in person. She's never made any overtly political statements in her music as far as I've detected in the years I've been listening to her. I suspect I saw that same group in 1994 at the Jazz Café, I'm pretty sure I recall Burnham. I remember it was packed to the rafters and she had to make her way through the parting crowd to get to the stage
  10. But sounding like John Martyn's a good thing surely...? Not that I hear the comparison
  11. My favourite Charles Lloyd in there, the first tune will blow your mind
  12. They played a 50th Anniversary tour show in London Jan 23. I didn't go.
  13. One I bought after your enthusiasm for it here, so thank you. Now, those Satohs...
  14. Me too. A big fan, waiting for some new work at some point I've even forgiven her for her non-appearance on the evening of a London Jazz Festival gig on my birthday, about 10 years ago. A subsequent Ronnie Scott's gig was very very special.
  15. All this love for Jethro Tull who I always think of as a band with such an almost quintessentially English sound that it always surprises me that they crossed over the Atlantic so much. I know they were huge at times. I liked them in smaller doses but when I did like them I liked them a lot, 'Aqualung' for instance.
  16. Stop it you two, I can't keep up 😭 More Satoh to investigate...
  17. I might just get my copy out too, thanks for the reminder
