  1. Such an appealing cover illustration to pull in the punters
  2. Mine isn't a reissue, CadNor in the US still have original stock so I bought it from them
  3. Just unsealed and played my copy that arrived a month ago, sounded very good on first acquaintance
  4. Makes me realise I never have either. 'Some Girls' was the first I heard on release. Never been a fan
  5. Jessica Lauren - Film [BBE, 2024 RE]
  6. Swoon When that came out I played my copy to death
  7. My favourite period, it's a shame there isn't more from the Don Juan sessions
  8. Pleased to hear it worked out
  9. Ganavya - Daughter Of A Temple includes a startlingly beautiful take on 'A Love Supreme'
  10. That's a favourite
  11. Same here. I'm tempted to watch but so many of Marquez's images are the product of my imagination I'm not sure I want to see someone else's interpretation. Having said that, just upthread I rave about the TV adaptation of the Mantel books that are also amongst my all time favourites
  12. Marlon Brando Jo Brand Brandy
  13. Desmond Dekker The Clash Big Audio Dynamite
  14. But the reviews on the linked page are just thumbnail reviews for the end of year list. He references the full reviews in a number of them. I've not gone on to read them but I think that's where criticism is probably more justly levelled, no? I've spent a fair amount of time with the Sorey, Kinoshi and Tomin, enjoyed each a lot and I think in these limited sketches he does well to capture some of their attributes. In mine too
  15. Late as ever but very much enjoying 'Queen's Gambit'. And previously 'The Diplomat'. Neither fill the void left by the ending of 'The Mirror and The Light' but I'm not sure anything is going to. That was superlative television.
  16. Patricia Brennan - Breaking Stretch
  17. 👍👍and therefore what an album. That may have been my entry point to Stanko (or perhaps Litania)
  18. I thought this is an interesting and varied list. I was aware of maybe a third of them. I "saved" about a further five to my Tidal account for further investigation. I'm not sure the reviews have enough word count to be very informative or in depth but I use the links to BC to do my own reviewing and in that way I'm grateful for being alerted. It's good that the list isn't made up of too many established names (Halvorson, Parker , Sorey aside) that's how the genre grows and prospers with new listeners.
  19. Calvin Weston Leslie West Maxine Peake
  20. Sammy Davis Jr Junior Parker Kidd Jordan
  21. Charles Tyler - Eastern Man Alone [ESP Disk, USA 1970 RE] My favourite Tyler, I think
  22. Charles Tyler - Saga Of The Outlaws [Nessa Records, USA 1978] thanks to @Pim I'm reacquainting myself with this gem. A disadvantage of having lots of music is some very good stuff doesn't get played for a long time.
  23. Gaetano Liguori Collective Orchestra - s/t [PDU, Italy 1976] thsi fair barrels along never gone right out but always flirting with it. I love it when a punt comes off
  24. Gruppe Nuova Consonanza - Improvisationen [Deutsche Grammophon, Germany 1969] Jan Garbarek Quartet - Afric Pepperbird [ECM, Germany 1970 RE] The first two from today's delivery. Interestingly the first track on the Garbarek could almost appear on the Gruppe, if you stretch a bit. Maybe unsurprisingly given the provenance, both LPs sound and recording quality is magnificent
