  1. She's a real talent. I came late to her given all the coverage she gets over here. heir to Kenny Wheeler perhaps
  2. I missed out the on my original post. I was obscurely suggesting, in jest, that Salsa and Reggae albums are a lot more fun That depends on the parties...I always take my Brotzmann LPs to parties, don't other folk? Meanwhile Tubby Hayes Quartet - For Members Only, '67 Live [Miles Music, UK 1990] Top notch Tubbs worth entry for the flute feature 'Finky Minky' alone, not on any other album, I'm led to believe
  3. That looks very interesting indeed. Nowhere to be seen this side of the Atlantic sadly. Amazon Music seems to have a live album with some of the tunes.
  4. Which just goes to suggest that the Salsa and Reggae albums get played a lot more...
  5. Jesus Maria Ida Lupino Carla Bley
  6. Evan Parker Quartet - All Knavery And Collusion {Cadillac, 2021]
  7. A morning catching up with some new arrivals whilst getting work admin sorted Jamire Williams - But Only After You Have Suffered [International Anthem, 2021] Oiro Pena - Ima [Jazzaggression Records, Finland 2021] Matthew Halsall - Salute To The Sun (Live At Halle St.Peter's MCN) [Gondwana Records UK, 2021] V.Ganelinas, V. Tarasovs, V.Cekasinas - Con Anima [Melodiya, USSR 1976] Ganelin, Cekasin, Tarasov - Poi Segue [Melodiya, USSR 1982]
  8. the Todd Haynes Velvet Underground documentary
  9. Fats Sadi's Combo - s/t {Vogue, Japan 1997 RP] purchase from earlier in the year inspired by the European modernism thread
  10. Theaster Gates - A Clay Sermon at The Whitechapel. Thought Provoking
  11. Listening now. Fun stuff. I shall wear a cardigan today.
  12. never got the solo one Just been listening to this that arrived today
  13. Thanks John. So that's not Gato not being Pharaoh but the aforementioned George Barron? He's the only sax player credited on Discogs for that album. I really should have left this alone when I said I was going to a few hours ago. Sorry folks!
  14. Yeah, I get that so is the BFT track not Gato or not from 'Astral Travelling'? I think I need a lie down...
  15. Now I'm confused, a state I find myself increasingly visiting and not just in this BFT. I thought Liston Smith's first Flying Dutchman was 'Astral Traveling' without Gato. But we're saying and now hearing Gato on the BFT track, no? And Gato's first FD album 'Third World' doesn't have LLS on it Forgive me, it's been a tough week...
  16. I'm not too sure that it helps to know that, John By a creaky process of elimination I think the Harley might be from 'Re-creation Of The Gods' only because I have a number of the others and not that one and also the line-up on Discogs fits (is such research allowed?)
  17. I think I'm going to admit defeat on tracks 11,12 & 13 and wait for the reveal, or for Jsngry to spill the beans, with great interest. But I'm going to listen to that run one more time...
  18. So reading the new comments, is track 11 a Bob Moses band?
  19. is Pharaoh not Pharaoh on Black Jazz?
  20. Yes, I got the LP from the US too. Seems a while ago now possibly before CvsD did the CD
  21. Reading some of the IDs now and with your comments, So Khan Jamal it is and I see T.D. has ID'd it so I can go to my shelves and play it now . I just have too many albums if I miss this ID. It's a terrific listen. Track 10. - ha! Apologies Mr Stepney. I grew up to my Mum listening to them, still have a little soft spot even for the most poppy stuff. She could sing. And now I know that the Pointer Sisters existed before 'Slowhand'. It's always an education here Track 12 intrigues me on a number of levels. 45 years old makes it contemporaneous with Pharaoh's albums. I haven't listened to Collier yet as I fear he's going to be "Spiritual by numbers" but I will sometime and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. He's on the upcoming Kahil El'Zabar album which is some kind of recommendation.
