Gruppe Nuova Consonanza - Improvisationen [Deutsche Grammophon, Germany 1969] Jan Garbarek Quartet - Afric Pepperbird [ECM, Germany 1970 RE] The first two from today's delivery. Interestingly the first track on the Garbarek could almost appear on the Gruppe, if you stretch a bit. Maybe unsurprisingly given the provenance, both LPs sound and recording quality is magnificent

Nice one. When I was a music librarian I used to put lots of stickers and barcodes on sleeves and labels just like that. I also saw how the public used or misused the LPs so I think you're definitely lucky if that came from a public library. Or Charles Tyler just wasn't popular... I haven't listened to it in ages, maybe I should

And how Wright is as much a rhythm player as the "rhythm section". The build up and then delay of release is great fun throughout too. To my ears it's very original, I can't think of any obvious direct precursor, influences yes as you identify
