  1. Endea Owens and The Cookout - Feel Good Music
  2. Love that and most of Texier's output on that label. They can sound a little too similar though
  3. I'll keep an eye out Edit to add: just looked at Discogs and seen that prices are creeping up. Lots of unsold copies suggests crept too far
  4. This is new to me. Mike Carr is always interesting
  5. Niescier, Savannah, Reid - Beyond Dragons [Intakt]

Shame might be a bit harsh
  7. Mine arrived yesterday too but not had a listen yet so heartened by your positive impressions. I have an earlier Niescier on Enja with Sorey and Thomas Morgan making the trio, well worth a listen. Savannah Harris is a new name to me too. I seem to have forgotten to order the new Stones album...

Saw him live, bought an album, largely memorable for his undoubted stamina but not a lot else. I'm interested to know who's quoting him as an influence, are they Jazz players? I hear his music as being more Rock adjacent
  9. He was in the audience at my local Jazz venue on Thursday. Sadly didn't get up to play
  10. Let me know if you do break cover and fancy a local guide
  11. That's a big favourite of mine. Could you expand on the "piously retro" description a little, I'm intrigued.
  12. It's a nice space that's struggled to keep going as the local arts scene has been pushed away by developments.Think Vortex but with more pale wood, less industrial. Only have upright piano but Liam Noble and Alcyona Mick both made it sound good when I heard them. Vegetarian thali has a strong reputation but I haven't tried it as eating there seems a bit silly 5 minutes from my kitchen They have strong links with Tomorrow's Warriors and showcase a lot of their young bands. Also have strong links with the Lowther/Sulzman/Themen generation who all play there fairly regularly. Last night there were just 12 in the audience and I wonder how sustainable that can be but they announced two of their LJF shows are sold out or near so There's what seems likely to be a great show but I'm double booked with Charles Lloyd https://www.musicglue.com/karamel/events/2023-11-17-unknown-to-known-karamel I'll likely try the Steve Watts Trio as Iain Ballamy is playing Easy to get to from Wood Green tube, 10 minute walk and N22 isn't that scary 😮
  13. Josephine Davies Satori at the Karamel Club Great to have a Jazz venue 5 minutes from the front door
  14. That's been posted twice in the thread already, great read
  15. Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Andy Sheppard - Andando El Tempo [ECM, Germany 2016] Gorgeous music making. These later trio albums are a strong run.
  16. I'm enjoying them very much too, so a second thanks
  17. Last night, Balimaya Project at the Barbican Everything that's good about this city and its younger generation musicians. Superb.
  18. Shame, shame, shame. Everything she did was worth a listen at the very least and so much of it was worth close acquaintance. She cancelled a Ronnie's appearance a couple of years ago due to illness. I'd seen the trio there previously, very special. And I shall treasure the two times I saw LMO
  19. Matana Roberts - Coin Coin Chapter Five: In The Garden [Constellation Records, 2023] Stunning
  20. Dorothy Ashby - Concierto de Aranjuez Sahib Shihab - Sahib's Jazz Party
  21. Whereas I've only had good responses from PayPal when making claims. I have one outstanding now so I can only hope my luck holds.
  22. Schlippenbach Quartett - Das Hohe Lied [Po Torch Records, Germany 1991] I've been rediscovering my collection of Schlippenbach Trio/Quartet albums. A marvellous group.
