  1. Thanks John, that's just the reassurance I needed. A new year treat lined up
  2. How is that John? I saw it for sale at a favourite shop recently and thought about it. I really like Folk, Blues & Beyond and often thought of investigating him more. This looks like a good opportunity What a great story. I wish I had had such an imaginative teacher. Late 80s Brixton was ok, edgy definitely but I think that was more by reputation than reality. I had many a good night out at the Academy then and survived the surrounding hostelries. My sister lived just off the main drag about then too.
  3. 😄 Improvement all round then, that's good
  4. Thank you I'll seek it out, although I suspect I may miss quite a lot of the benefits of your great set up.
  5. That makes me really want to hear this version. The album was a very early entry point on my Jazz entry
  6. You drew up a good list! I hope you're all feeling a bit better today, at least you are well enough to listen to music
  7. Your wife obviously knows her Jazz 😀...despite you claiming she doesn't Great album
  8. I'm with a 92 and 89 yo, not sure either are quite ready!
  9. This, of course has now got me singing Groove Is In The Heart. To myself, thankfully for my companions
  10. Fear not, I went through that phase, admittedly a bit older, and look at my music taste now...
  11. Metal Christmas to you all!!
  12. Saw them perform it at the Vortex, they're very good (and seemingly very young too...)
  13. Ahmed 2 x Tomin on International Anthem Jorga Mesfin Pat Thomas - solo on Oto Awen Ensemble There is a similar thread started by @HutchFansomewhere I think. Here it is, slightly different parameters https://www.organissimo.org/forum/topic/92191-2024-new-to-you-favorites/#comment-1894184
  14. I wish she'd record again, been too long. And a tour would be even better
  15. Such an appealing cover illustration to pull in the punters
  16. Mine isn't a reissue, CadNor in the US still have original stock so I bought it from them
  17. Just unsealed and played my copy that arrived a month ago, sounded very good on first acquaintance
  18. Makes me realise I never have either. 'Some Girls' was the first I heard on release. Never been a fan
  19. Jessica Lauren - Film [BBE, 2024 RE]
  20. Swoon When that came out I played my copy to death
  21. My favourite period, it's a shame there isn't more from the Don Juan sessions
  22. Pleased to hear it worked out
  23. Ganavya - Daughter Of A Temple includes a startlingly beautiful take on 'A Love Supreme'
  24. That's a favourite
  25. Same here. I'm tempted to watch but so many of Marquez's images are the product of my imagination I'm not sure I want to see someone else's interpretation. Having said that, just upthread I rave about the TV adaptation of the Mantel books that are also amongst my all time favourites
