  1. I don't have any originals. HJ take most of my salary as it is!
  2. Happy Birthday Steve. Hope you're digging into that DKV set now
  3. Marshall Allen ao - Ceremonial Healing [RareNoise] initial impressions suggest this is another winner from this label I agree, a very impressive reissue. On the back of this I'll definitely be investigating some others, starting with the Cyro Baptista I think

    Billy Harper

Listening to Mr Harper on Gil Evans' 'Where Flamingos Fly' right now. Highly recommended.
  5. Thanks, duly noted and entered on the ever expanding list
  6. I didn't realise, thanks
  7. Larry Ochs - The Fictive Five [Tzadik]
  8. And I have one of those red and white postcards from the postman...rather than a red and white box from out West Here's hoping for the other reissues
  9. Now I could say something evasive but no, thanks for the correction. Back to school for me...brain addled by too much Free Jazz, perhaps? Meanwhile... Art Ensemble Of Chicago - Kabalaba [AEOC Records]
  10. Globe Unity Orchestra & the Choir of the NDR Broadcast - Hamburg '74 [FMP] Easter egg to self, arrived today...I'd prevaricated over this for a long while. I shouldn't have, it's excellent.
  11. Dembo Konte & Kausu Kuyateh - Simbomba [Rogue Records] thanks to Paul Secor for posting this and alerting me to its existence. Speaking of which, I'm missing his eclectic posts (always educational). Hope he returns to posting

    Tony Coe

I ordered a copy of Zeitgeist this afternoon

    Tony Coe

Thanks Alex. I knew about that one but had passed over it for some reason
  14. That's where I saw it and purchased it. Love their stock selection but the bank balance doesn't I'm really looking forward to hearing the Warren - I've avoided listening to online samples. A game I play now and again so that the new purchase is fresh The Bird Curtis keep flying into view too but as of today not snaffled

    Tony Coe

Bumping this thread after listening to the honest Jons reissue of Coe and Derek Bailey's 'Time'. Coe is outstanding on this, well they both are. It's a thing of rare beauty It got me wondering, does anyone know of any other small group settings where Coe plays more freely?
  16. finally overcame the "too much of a good thing" barrier... Also, I've been very impressed by the recent RareNoise releases featuring Rudd and this looked like an interesting mix of musicians reissue, purchased on reputation alone
  17. Derek Bailey/Tony Coe - Time [Honest Jons] excellent reissue adding a new session. Great improvisations, lean and lovely music-making
  18. Kenny Wheeler - Music For Large & Small Ensembles [ECM} perfect for a very sunny holiday listen
  19. Sounds good to me. I visited my local shop three days later and picked up three nice used titles and passed on the RSD leftovers, of which there was many. Subsequently picked up the Griot Galaxy, the one title zi really wanted, online for less than shops were selling it on the day. Purchased the Kirchin from source. All in all a good RSD experience, just a week later and queue-less
  20. Now there is one band I've still to see live who I'd love to see
  21. And the last of today's batch Frank Lowe - Fresh [Freedom]
  22. Next up, by way of contrast, another of today's finds Friendship Next Of Kin: featuring Selwyn Lissack - Facets Of The Univers [Goody]
