  1. Hannibal and the Sunrise Orchestra - Live In Lausanne [Baystate]
  2. Arsenal fans (a cross borne by Clunky, I believe) probably still don't think that If Kane is fit for the final it will present Pochettino with a very interesting decision. When Kane last came back from injury, some say too early, it seemed that the team faltered from the good run they'd enjoyed in his absence..
  3. Not any more!!!!! Pride of north London!
  4. Spurs, my local team, two miles away. COYS!! However who as a serious football fan hasn't got a soft spot for Ajax. Great history, great legacy throughout Europe and a classic home strip too
  5. Elvin Jones - Live, The Town Hall [P.M. Records] after a few days listening to the Elvin Mosaic on Spotify it seemed fate that I should find this today
  6. I'm always loathed to start these threads but a number of online sources are reporting his passing. His Discogs entry is updated to show a date last month for his death but tis tribute suggests yesterday https://inconstantsol.blogspot.com/2019/05/fritz-novotny-november-21-1940-may-7.html I just wish his music with the Freedom Art Unit was easier to come by
  7. Football. Lovely football. Marvellous Liverpool
  8. Brexit, racism, Windrush, Russia and the Sex Pistols...I predict this thread will end well
  9. No one's messing with Larry, that's for sure
  10. I'm new to him too (I normally veer away from improv guitarists - a personal prejudice I may overcome one day) but there are two relatively recent Intakts with the same trio that really worked for me - 'Another Day In Fucking Paradise' and its follow up 'Closer To The Ground'. Others I have enjoyed are duo discs with Barry Guy and Lotte Anker, both also on Intakt. I'm sure others will have lots more knowledge and recommendations though
  11. I saw an excellent Frith\Anker duet set at Oto a couple of years back. Those trio albums on Intakt are great
  12. Guy Warren Of Ghana - Afro-Jazz [Return To Analog] One of my favourite Chico albums
  13. very much enjoying this. Took me a while to warm to it but thoroughly warmed now. I still remember the impact of 'Time Of Our Singing' ('Orfeo', a lot less) An apt follow on from this that I've just finished
  14. I listened to it once on Spotify and was very impressed only to promptly forget about it (without the prompt of a physical item) until your reminder. I shall give it another spin. I agree about Intakt although the prices seem to have crept up. Paying a little extra for quality is an admirable approach which I don't always afford myself, I realise.
  15. No one seems to be commenting on the biggest football story of the weekend, Reading FC's heroic survival in the Championship. I can't think why it has gone unnoticed amongst all this talk of Ajax, Barcelona, Spurs and Arsenal...😁
  16. Onto disc 4 of DKV & Joe McPhee's 'The Fire Each Time' Some great music on this and the previous discs
  17. Certainly a lively one for a Sunday morning. Another of Sakata's own leader dates on Enja, 'Clay', features the same trio minus Schoof. Well worth hunting out if you don't already know it.
  18. Dewey Redman - Coincide [Impulse] Rediscovering how good this is after too long. Ted Daniel, Sirone, Eddie Moore, Leroy Jenkins, how could it not be good.
  19. Very excited to have booked today to see him at Ronnie Scott's in the summer. I have really enjoyed a number of concert hall gigs but the intimacy of the club should be extra special.
  20. Love that Steig must dig out for a spin. I don't know the Scott but suspect I should
  21. Three great albums there
  22. The New Don Ellis Band featuring Patti Allen - Goes Underground [CBS] works for me
