  1. Thanks for the report, sounds worth a listen. I have most of his albums until a few years ago. Yeah, that shitshow
  2. That's a new one?
  3. Absolutely
  4. By coincidence, a friend just sent me this link https://www.bonhams.com/auction/30318/lot/62P/rory-gallagher-the-legendary-1961-fender-stratocaster-electric-guitar-serial-no-64351-stamped-on-neckplate-guitar-38-12in-98cm-long/ £900k !!
  5. Love that album This one
  6. Oh that's a shame. I knew nothing about her until someone posted here (possibly Kevin Bresnahan) about her illness and a fundraising effort to support her. I bought her latest LP in response and it came with a lovely note from Claire thanking me for the support. The music's great but that seemed almost like a trifle at the time. I'll play it in her memory.
  7. Thanks, I'll educate myself. I very much liked 'Transgression'.
  8. Borbetomagus, a band I read about in the Wire a lot but have never listened to. Anyone who's in a band called Sick Dick & the Volkswagens deserves to be celebrated and mourned I'll listen to the linked music, thanks
  9. I'd have liked to make it to that. I saw Satori first about 3 years ago and was equally impressed, just a trio then. About a year ago I saw them with Alcyona Mick in piano, which was good but I missed the space of the trio music. The Satori trio albums are really good I think. Davies is also very good in the Full Circle Quartet if you're interested. I put Satori in my recent BFT here, got some interesting responses.
  10. This is a really interesting release. It's easy to forget that Wilkins is still only 27 and on this album the promise of his previous releases starts to be more fully realised I feel Also, he's a very generous leader, perhaps too much so as he's nowhere near a dominant instrument voice, his compositional voice is doing the heavy lifting here Well done Blue Note for getting behind him
  11. Yeah, I'm beginning to think about a core collection whittled down from the 2000 LPs, maybe 500? Similar numbers for CDs.
  12. Thanks, that's good to know
  13. I shall do
  14. Moon Zappa Sun Araw Manfred Mann's Earth Band
  15. I didn't realise they were reissued on CD officially. I have the set on LP but would be interested in supplementing some with CD copies, especially if they're remastered?
  16. Suits you Sir...
  17. Dwight James - Inner Heat - Cadence Jazz 1014 LP Khan Jamal - Percussion & Strings - CIMP Khan Jamal Quintet - Balafon Dance - CIMP Khan Jamal Quintet - Black Awareness - CIMP Finally decided to increase my Khan Jamal holdings, prompted in part by discussions with @Pimabout Byard Lancaster dates. Ordered directly from the label for the first time so hoping they'll come through
  18. Phew! I was just looking at copies on Discogs. Although I think I may 'have spent enough with my Jamal bundle already today...
  19. As a non-father am I allowed to listen to it? 😃 Currently listening to Byard Lancaster - It's Not Up To Us [Superior Viaduct, USA 2023 RE] I could listen to the first two tracks of this album on repeat all day I think, just beautiful playing by everyone
  20. I think I prefer this over the original
  21. Yes, the CD. I can probably stream it on Tidal
  22. I don't think there is a CD box of this, just four CDs issued separately. They are all appearing on European sellers sites individually at least. Think link up thread from the label was for a special price bundle of the four individual CDs not a box
  23. Pretty astonishing labour of love by the looks of it and by its description on the BC page Now this one sounds interesting
  24. The Artifacts Trio, at Oto last night. Fabulous concert, two concise sets, swinging as hell. Three great players/composers showcasing their own compositions and some by AACM masters, especially Steve McCall. Nice chat with Mike Reed at half time too.
  25. Keep going @Pim, this is an invaluable service that's helping me decide which of the albums to consider buying separately! I'm only in for one or two of them at most
