  1. Thanks, I look forward to hearing that
  2. I really like that album, picked up an LP recently. Can you recommend anything similar? And playing here for obvious reasons

    Quincy Jones RIP

Not on the BBC, so far the Jackson years have been mentioned but easily as much focus has been on his other work in film, with Sinatra and writing/arranging for big bands etc. I'm impressed by their coverage and hoping for some more in depth as they pull it together. That aside, those Jackson albums are pretty damn important in recent-ish music history and definitely deserve the coverage.
  4. Yes, me too Concept reminiscent of the New Directions album from 2000 (!?!) which I really enjoyed. https://www.discogs.com/master/1431771-Harris-Moran-Osby-Shim-New-Directions Although New Directions did a lot of covers whereas the new band seems to be original material
  5. That sounds like a lot of blood for a small dog, glad to hear she's ok now and being soothed by GG
  6. Lots of coverage on BBC radio this morning Titan
  7. Mitch Mitchell Noel Redding Jimi
  8. Seeing this made me realise I'd not heard about Gjerstad for a while, he used to be a regular visitor to the UK. Just checked his Bandcamp and he's still releasing which is good to see. Time to catch up on some recent releases
  9. Needless to say my copy cost a bit more
  10. Very insightful, sign him up for Wire now
  11. Yazz Ahmed - La Saboteuse [Night Time Stories, UK 2024 RE]
  12. Edvard Munch J.B.Priestley Trevor Nunn
  13. The Gil Evans Orchestra - Into The Hot [Impulse/Sparton, Canada 1962 mono] Such a strange release, I wonder how many Evans fans felt hoodwinked in 1962
  14. I'm really pleased I bought that. The extra material is very worthwhile
  15. That's a good album
  16. Company - 1 [Incus, UK 1977] I just love this music
  17. Freely improvised, non-idiomatic Lego building...sounds ideal saturday morning pastime. Just don't let Evan P join in and spoil the party
  18. Stan Kenton - City Of Glass [Capitol Records, UK 10" 1952] preceded by Earl Bostic - Jazz As I Feel it [King Records, USA 1963] with thanks to @JSngryfor prompting the Bostic purchase
  19. Never heard of them, assuming it's not Disco
  20. In for a treat there, strap yourself in
  21. Stefan Abeleen - 'Downstream' Japanese reissue LP. Prompted by discussion elsewhere on the board Also, the new reissues of Yazz Ahmed's three albums
  22. I've been very close to buying that Abeleen LP for a few weeks now, funny it should turn up here too. Maybe it's telling me something
  23. They'd certainly be arrested and get lifetime bans for an equivalent action in a UK sports stadium, football, cricket or whichever sport. How much would they have paid for their tickets that close to the field?
