  1. Leo Cuypers' Heavy Days - Are here again [bvhaast]
  2. Luther Thomas Creative Ensemble - Funky Donkey [Circle Records]
  3. Re: Curson, The New Thing & The Blue Thing on Atlantic is easy to find and good. The Marge and Futura records are also strong, and the Whynot/Trio LP (Blue Piccolo) is okay. I'm not as big a fan of Plenty of Horn or the Prestige record - they're all right, nice dates, but he hadn't grown into Ted at that point. Thanks Clifford
  4. Ted Curson Quartet - Urge [Fontana/Japan]. What a great album I only have the two Fontana Cursons but they definitely make me want to hear more....recommendations anyone? meanwhile I'm making do with... Charles Mingus - Presents Charles Mingus [Candid], hardly a chore congrats! Seconded!
  5. Don Cherry & the Jazz Composer's Orchestra - Relativity Suite [JCOA]
  6. The Ballad Album.....?
  7. Pharoah & the Underground - Primative Jupiter [Clean Feed] with Rob Mazurek, Pharoah Sanders, Chad Taylor, Matthew Lux, Mauricio Takara, Guiherme Granado first spin. first impressions are good music let down by seemingly muddy live recording
  8. Try before you buy on Spotify (UK at least)
  9. Hairy Bones @ Vortex. Sat front row, feet from Kondo's trumpet bell. Ears rang for days afterwards. They are LOUD. Next time I'm off towards the back where it won't hurt quite so much back to those Okka reissues - anyone care to tell me how essential the Brotzmann Atlanta LP is?
  10. They did offer to pay the postage if I bought the lot
  11. Always filled for me too. I'm off to check those FMPs now
  12. Just got some quotes from them Lester Bowie - African Children € 200,00 Enrico Rava - Jazz a Confronto 14 € 100,00 Karl Berger & Ingrid Berger- Changing the time € 80,00 Gil Evans Orchestra - Parabola € 150,00 I think I'll be sticking with the used market
  13. Ted Curson Quartet - Urge {Fontana Japan]
  14. Big fan of Okka's service here too. In my experience, over many purchases an years, it ships transatlantic very reasonably and speedily which may be a factor for erwbol. I'd've thought that the European label releases found on Catalytic may be available at comparable cost to a European buyer nearer to home once you've factored in the shipping. Obviously Catalytic is a great source of the US labels they feature. used Catalytic Sound just the once and that was Ok if a bit slow
  15. Pick me up on the way...
  16. That Rivière Composers' Pool £CD set is a gem
  17. Charlie Haden - The Golden Number [Horizon/A&M]
  18. Ornette Coleman - New York is Now! [blue Note]
  19. this exists as excellent sounding japanese Vinyl release.....better than nothing ..... Seems to be available at Honest Jon's........ http://honestjons.com/shop/preview/41154 and DustyGroove.... https://www.dustygroove.com/item/620534 I've got that Klimt reissue. Sounds OK nothing better but I don't know the Horo to compare. Beware it is 45rpm
  20. Alvin Batiste - Musique D'Afrique Nouvelle Orleans [india Navigation]
  21. Gil Evans - Where Flamingos Fly [Artists House]
  22. I just got a reply to my enquiry asking me which titles I'd be interested in but no mention of prices. I've asked them back about price and pointed out potential issue of still sealed warpage - waiting to see what comes back Bowie's 'African Children' and the Rava are my top two

    Evan Parker

Just put in my pre-order. That's got to be a winning combination
  24. There was just a copy on Discogs for about $45. I seriously considered it! I swear the CDs will be here one day.... I think that's probably the copy I just bought. Only arrived today. Priced lower due to small scratch which doesn't impair the listening in the slightest. CDs will sound great....
