  1. I have that! I'll get it out for a spin

Not Nat but I can absolutely understand your thinking on that. The leader is a contemporary but isn't a sax player. There's no harp credited but a similar instrument of which I suspect you've listened to in other settings.
  3. 👍 A new name to me before this purchase
  4. Makaya Ntshoko - Makaya & The Tsotsis [Enja, West Germany 1975]
  5. Interesting, I went to a discovery day of Xenakis works (and some terrific biographical film) performed by the London Sinfonietta several years ago and was bowled over by a lot of the music but for some reason never followed it up with any extensive listening. Since then he's always been a name that intrigues. Maybe I could start again with this

I know that feeling all too well. I have the physical release for the Harriott

    BFT 246

It is indeed, well found! That's a great release
  8. Jazztrack And Norma Winstone - Flying Stork [Musicians Record Company, Germany 1979] I have only recently become aware of this album, prime wordless Norma, absolutely lovely Nala Sinephro - Space 1.8 [Warp Records, UK 2021]

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for listening. A couple of artists in there that are definitely on your radar, if not necessarily these particular albums

Exactly, it's at that intersection that the group's music predominantly sits too. Very impressive live

#11 is a lot, lot more contemporary than #3

Yes, yes and yes! I was thinking you'd get this one That's the first complete artist, track, album ID Time to play it again perhaps ...

    BFT 246

Well I'd definitely say there's no harm in liking #3, it's not bang up to date, over 20 years old #4 is definitely too short, they're tunes are usually longer but BFT time restraints dictate
  15. Brilliant, your own resident Cecil now playing, Cecil McBee - Music From The Source [Enja, Germany 1978]
  16. Rob Mazurek, Exploding Star Orchestra - Dimensinal Stardust [International Anthem, USA 2020] Ken McIntyre - 'Way, 'Way Out [United Artists Records, USA 1963] Very surprisngly I'm hearing some crossover between these two
  17. Ian Carr Don Rendell Ronnie Scott
  18. Thompson Twins Brothers Grimm Les Cousins
  19. That'll set the day up nicely

So pleased you enjoyed what you heard @Dub Modal. I was hoping you'd get to listen to the BFT as I suspect there's quite an overlap in our tastes from previous posts etc. Yes, it's Joe, yes this tune is on the Jazzland and yes this version is from another source
  21. I saw him perform with a quartet earlier this year, very powerful. My first exposure to his artworks was in a group show last year so when this Camden Arts Centre show was announced it was a must see. Some very strong work in it
  22. That sounds very good, I may give it a whirl one day. Did you make the gnocchi yourselves? I did once, never again
