  1. Warming up for SME obviously
  2. I bet, I saw them twice early on. Both were standing venues and they had London crowds dancing which isn't usual for a rock crowd over here I stopped listening to them about the time of 'Kiko' only because I moved more into Jazz and left Rock behind. I can imagine they're still great, they always had lots of soul.
  3. Yesterday, the Jon Lloyd Quartet featuring John Law on piano, at Pizza Express Soho. Lloyd sounding great playing the ECM inspired music of his "comeback" album. I only know Fishwick of those names I think. I need to get to the Parakeet at some point.
  4. Makes perfect sense now you explain it. I'd have Karyobin in 'Nice Jazz', it's not nearly as scary as it's reputation my suggest. Now that Doyle, definitely 'Evil Jazz'. My partner has a similar categorisation, 'Evil Music' for all Jazz...
  5. Saw them when they toured that in the UK, fantastic
  6. That sounds like a group I could get on with, I rate Rasmussen highly too
  7. Bono Bonobo The Monkees
  8. George Foreman Hugo Boss Chairman Of The Board
  9. And it was easy getting into the piggy banks too I guess... 'Evil Jazz' shelf, interesting concept
  10. No shame in Discogs surely It's a great album and just sometimes it has to be done...how the kids will take to bread and water for the rest of the month is a different matter altogether
  11. Georges Simenon Simon Le Bon The Hungry Wolf
  12. Andrew Hill Sextet Plus 10 - A Beautiful Day Revisited
  13. Your secret's safe...enjoy owning it. Where did you get it from?
  14. Jackie Oatts Rachel Unthank June Tabor
  15. Richard Tapper Cadbury Bill Robinson Nina Simone
  16. Thanks, I'll take a stroll sometime

  18. I always forget about there as a buying venue
  19. Ubu Roi David Thomas Two Pale Boys
  20. Keep on truckin' Fiona!
  21. Sold that on recently
  22. Elvin Bishop Mike Bloomfield David Sanborn
  23. That reissue's price is creeping up it would appear. I had a stream and hear what you mean, bet it's on the Thurston list? Now playing, diametrically opposed The Herbie Mann/Sam Most Quintet [London Records, UK 1957] The vinyl is in absolutely pristine condition which considering its age is pretty amazing. Definitely for flute lovers only
  24. The Flaming Groovies Grover Washington Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson
  25. I've never got on with Freeman, always sounds to me like he fits too easily into whatever scenario he's playing in, a technician definitely but no real personality. Even on the McBee Enjas, which I do like, he seems not too convincing. I had 'Kings Of Mali' for a long time but sold it on, even with Hoggard on it, because it left me cold. Which is the best description of how I find his playing, even when ostensibly fiery. I know lots of other folk disagree and I'm happy to admit it's a blind(deaf?)-spot for me
