  2. i wouldnt trade my igor markevitch vinyl version with the philharmonia orchestra on angel from the late 1950's. it has hopefully been reissued on cd
  3. the nfl has never made a move 'for the fans.' (consider the 830pm deep december night games in new england) how much extra will the nfl be charging the networks to carry this game 'for the fans'.? because of the writer's strike, the networks jumped all over this opportunity.
  4. has the mighty nfl blinked? i cant remember a decision they have ever made that didnt make them money. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...ts-giants_N.htm
  5. righto. and you fit a good many great ones in. it's not like you are playing sketches of spain or miles porgy which we all cherish, but have heard a thousand times.
  6. the discussion of authentic period instruments is very interesting.
  7. Volunteering me for an extra hour every week, eh, Jerry? there are many 2am listeners. lazlake has been doing it for years. that show went along to the gym today. it's sounds even better in the acoustics of a big room.

She visited my hometown on her $40/day show, and visited our favorite breakfast restaurants (going there tomorrow!). Its a rather small restaurant, and the waitresses recognize my mom and her best friend who eat there quite a bit. She told them about it, and said that off camera, Rachael Ray was really not nice at all."
  9. havent hear The Chipmunks this year. damn!
  10. the 3 hour program length seems ideal for 'bright barton'. he is really stretching out! the profound pullen in the middle of the show is music i am going to replay often.
  11. what a devastating blow! it's good to know that spoony is a survivor.
  12. thanks for the lovely article.
  13. i have all 3 hours on memorex and am looking forward to hearing what looks like one hell of a show! maybe tonight, even.
  14. that ellis, brown, oscar trio is one of the most awesome i have ever heard. i dont think the replacement with drums ever equaled that trio.
  15. not this cat, but i do remember worrying about it on many a christmas.
  16. for many years, the schwann catalogue was essential reading/ browsing. listening to this bach today, i recall the seemingly endless bach listings in the schwann. i havent seen one for years. is there a near equivalent around today, especially those magnificent classical listings?
  17. i know very well of chihuahua love, and am considering adopting another. happy birthday, minga!
  18. i listened to my vinyl of 'far out folks' last evening, unaware of this thread. as far as i am concerned, it is wonderful, thoughtful, intelligent, and very interesting music, which has held up for 50 years remarkably well. fred must have been doing many of the arrangements of chico hamilton's chamber jazz(which i treasure) of that period.
  19. in full flight, damn you could swing like hardly anyone else, if any, and, oh, how you could caress those ballads! you have left a magnificent legacy, oscar way back in the 50's, a station in louisville (whas) played a whole peterson album just before midnight, which is precisely when my long impassioned love affair with jazz began.
  20. azimuth with ralph towner
