This is a public forum. If people read something here and want to respond to it, that is their right. I have one magazine in the UK that instead of defending itself here against what it considered "malicious attacks", just refused to review our latest disc. I'd rather the person come on and enter the discussion. "lawrence olds" may or may not have been involved in WBEZ. I don't think it really matters. He/she has every right to speak his/her mind on the issue. I believe Root Doctor (the band, not that guy who posts over at the other forum) has paid the price recently with one UK publication as well. Too much in the way of politics in the world of music it seems. I understand Chuck's hyper-vigilance as I imagine some folks sneak into forums just to stir up trouble and sometimes change a moniker to do so. I also understand Jim's desire to moderate here. On the upside (at least to some minds) organissimo has been invited to interview on the air at WBEZ just before their Chicago appearance in June. Pretty cool!

One time he was having a bad night (lord knows I have my share of them). The other time...holy crap, he blew me away! Albert's feel was phenomenal. If I could somehow capture that and Martino's chops...well...

What a horrible time, what a horrible event. Many people died. Many continue to die. The question for me is: can I watch this movie? I fell into a very serious depression after 9/11. I wondered if having kids was only a selfish thing to do in this incredibly fucked up world. I looked at my baby boy and my 4 year old daughter and I cried for their future. I felt as though I failed them. I didn't play music. I didn't listen to music. I didn't sleep. I felt increasingly helpless. I took to reading philosophy, theology, and classic literature. I thought about trying to reenlist. I saw the smoke over DC from 90 minutes away as I lived in Charlottesville VA. Many people from my county worked in D.C. We were scared. At the time, I worried about my family who live near Flint and Dearborn MI. The two most dense, per captia, populations of Arab Americans and Arabs anywhere in the US. I believe, all but the most jaded and reclusive, suffered greatly from these horrific events. I don't know if I care to rekindle the pain just yet. It still smolders.

I wouldn't say that out loud. She might be the most disliked person in the Chicago jazz community. This is an interesting statement. Why is she disliked? And who is the community? The jazz intelligentsia? The club owners perhaps? The owner of one of the major jazz venues in Chicago made a funny comment to me about the so called "jazz community", and more specifically "..jazz geeks?", as he put it. "Who cares what the 'jazz geeks' say about this artist or that artist?" The whole sociology of music is very interesting. I care about what everyone says. The music afficianados and the lay people. I believe music can appeal to both. So what is the Heim crime? Not well versed in jazz? Not a community oriented person? Is it merely her personality that has caused her problems? Does it matter? Should Jim play politics? Or take support gracefully and not worry about social posturing? Not intending an argument at all. It is a funny business and subculture, that's all.

A Lesson In Phrasing I once heard Scott Henderson talk about this guy's phrasing as a touchstone of sorts. I get goosebumps everytime I watch this guy.

Sorry to say, but just because we're doing some equipment upgrades doesn't mean we're making money at this. I wish that were the case, but so far, we're still paying off our production debts on TITP. Jim is getting that XK3 for the sole purpose of reducing the physical stress of moving gear. Physical and emotional. That beast scares me sometimes.

None Of My Teachers Looked Like This Why is it that most guys don't feel sorry for this boy? I have to be honest, not sure I would be too upset at 13 if my teacher looked like this and made a move. In shock, stunned, pinching myself... On the flip side, what is wrong with this woman? Why the attraction to boys? She clearly could get the principle to dump his wife. Wonder if Junior High was rough on her... Weird stuff..
