  1. Damn, no kiddin. That is, I concur.
  2. The music's somewhat intricate. Not your parents' typical hardbop blowing session. Please tell us more. Intricate in what way? Will it be like the Soul Journey stuff? Also, any Michigan gigs pending??? g
  3. I enjoyed the Lonnie show I witnessed at Baker's a little while back. Very soulful dude, and a fine showman. I want to see him again. g

  6. If 6 Was 9 I should be able to do... E selections? anyhoooo On a serious note or two: Power To Love Little Wing Angel
  7. Great narrators though!!
  8. "Baker's is in a rather rough area;" Baker's is not in a rough area. I'm from Flint, come for a visit. But seriously, I don't want people getting the wrong impression here. Sure if you head down to 7 mile you can get into a higher crime area, but 8 mile on up is fine (you did see the movie right? ). Ferndale is right there, and beautiful. Moreover, Baker's has secured parking, is near a very busy major intersection, and is a very bustling and positive place. Many areas in Detroit are still viable and others are up and coming. If one desires a more posh setting for a hotel, I would recommend going up to Royal Oak, or down to one of the fancy hotels on the river. g
  9. You could rent a car at the airport for pretty cheap. As far as lodging goes, there is a lot right next to the airport, but I can't picture anything near Baker's. Maybe off of I-75... Dinner, well you've got to do dinner at Baker's. Smokin' catfish dinner! Lots of other yummy selections to choose from as well. I think I am comin out, and I believe this will be another "live recording night". g
  10. Dude! My wife just said I could go!! In fact, she is off Friday so I may be able to head out Thursday afternoon and hit some of the other Chicago clubs. I am sooo stoked. g
  11. That was my idea .. We were kickin' around some ideas for Xmas tunes in the basement studio and Jim wanted to do an uptempo swing version of Drummer Boy and after playing it a couple of times that way I poo pooed it and said, " Nahhh, that's too cliched, ,, Hey, how about this?" Quite fibbin' Randy! It was Zora's idea. The funky pitter patter of her feet as she b-lined about the house gave you the pattern idea. But seriously, you did lay it down there brother. Very nicely done! g
  12. That's awesome!!! Many thanks!!! g
  13. A new lowe
  14. Thank you kind sir! g
  15. Many thanks! Both Jim and I sing lead on a tune on the CD, but Freddie has a voice as big and as rich as Texas. Wait till you hear Freddie on the Rainy Night cover! Greg
  16. I agree
  17. Can't people send a check as well, Jimmy?
  18. I'm sorry you feel that way.
  19. Roland 1680s have a bit of a learning curve, but they are essentially stand alone, and one can score one on ebay for around 400-500 bucks. If you get particular and wish to by pass the weak preamps and converters you can later upgrade to a outboard preamp with digital outs. But for writing, recording, editing, I think it is cool. I have one and use it often. Allen and Jim have both made some really good suggestions as well. Good Luck.
  20. OK I have to ask this of the Zappa fans: Has anyone heard of a 70's band called Chopper? Supposedly, Zappa was a huge fan of these guys in the 70's, they were based out of Michigan, but I can't find any additional info on them. g
  21. The only thing I've heard, in general, about such cheaply produced guitars, is that you should try them out in person. One in five might have quality control issues. Now, I am not speaking directly about the Rogue as I have never played one. But still imagine checking them out is a good idea. g
  22. I concur!
  23. Hi Tom, sorry haven't been at the blues site much. Things have been crazy on the homefront; trying to get this Root Doctor release happening, helpin' Jim and the James Brothers with the organissimo band, takin' care of two little ones, and getting ready for the holidays. At any rate, thanks for your kind comments. Regarding "Me and My Wife", Freddie and I wrote that one, but Jim really wanted to call it me and YOUR wife. lol You know, just to make it more of a blues tune. I was game... but Freddie had other ideas...maybe next record. Greg Nagy p.s. Big O Records is a artist owned label. We are in debt up to our eyeballs on this one, but we had fun making it. Recorded through the legendary Muscle Shoals Neve consel to two-inch tape we feel we have produced a very warm and soulful record. To anyone who does pre-order via the website, or even after the release date pls know that your support is greatly appreciated.
