Yanni arrested in alleged domestic dispute

""He absolutely is not guilty and did not strike that woman," Gonzalez told the Palm Beach Post, adding that "the last thing this man would want to do is hurt his hands."" -
Our radio promo guy tells us we just hit the Living Blues Charts at number 8 for the month of February! Pretty cool!!

Holy crap. Dat's a lotta money! That's an understatement. And to spend that kind of cheese on an instrument you can't even see until you get it is a little silly. Yeah, whatever. So, ummm Jimmy, I was wondering...could I borrow a couple hundred thousand. My feedback is at stake here.

Rings bells for me, but for different reasons, (inside joke directed at Mr Alfredson and his stage volume...ahem). Kiddin' Jim. Coltrane probably took from a lot of folks. This doesn't surprise me a bit. Some of the live stuff I've heard from Jimmy Smith, when I first heard it, I thought he may have lifted from Coltrane, but the other way around doesn't surprise me either. Maybe it were a two way street? Or maybe there is a third party of influence not yet mentioned? (not trying to get esoteric here) g

Do People With Big Heads Scare You?

And you don't? I was just waiting for that.... The only reason you stand next to me in the Root Doctor photos is so your head looks small. -

T Bone Taxi Check out Jimmy's solo on the first tune. Smokin! Sorry to embarrass you Jim. But I just came across this podcast. My favorite, though, is the 80's sounding Screamin Jay tune, Put A Spell On You... TBone has three complete Root Doctor songs on this playlist. Right now, I am listening to the Luther Allison cover of The Stones, wild.

Ever the salesman. lol That's not what I meant silly man. In all seriousness, a sociologist by the name of Goffman wrote some pretty cool stuff about the symbolic interactionism of jazz. Being there, in the moment... and all.

You guys are a bunch of geeks! There is an idea that Music, as everyone here is displaying, is a social construct first and foremost. Groups of folks often get together to enjoy and try to understand that which they are enjoying (or not enjoying for that matter). When something is a bit off or new, one often refers to either an internalized other for understanding, or they turn to someone and quite plainly say, "did you hear that? is that good?" The internalized other would be any previous social/musical situation in which musical experience has occured and a subsequent cognitive schemata for regarding or referencing future sounds results. To try to define music, as Jsangry said is at the very tough. However, in attempting to define it does not necessarily follow that one is confining the subject matter. Any attempt at better understanding of music is a noble endeavor. Moreover, theories of music morph as ideas, group perceptions and values change (no implied direction of causality necessary here). While there are certain physical properties to (rather than of) sound that cross over and are common regardless of any societal bias, socio-historical epoch, etc.. the bulk of musical understanding rests squarely on the definition of a musical situation, in any given moment, among all of its participants. That is, jazz is often enjoyed best live and in a lively setting. The meaning of the notes, the sounds, are defined best in that social moment. And even then the definition is at best, only an estimate. So there g

I don't mind at all, however, I didn't realize the interview was going to come out as such (with me being cited). So I was a bit embarrassed at first. But hey, it's a very nice article, and it definetly helped with the turnout at Meijer Gardens. The best part of the Garden's show: they asked us to come back and do the outdoor venue in the summer. Last year the venue hosted such acts as Keb Mo, George Benson, Bela Fleck, etc.. so we are very honored and excited. Things are taking off a bit for both bands as Jimmy is kind of like Warren Haynes of the Allman Bros. organissimo is his Govt. Mule, and they be kickin'! (man do I write some corny stuff sometimes) The New RD CD Song Samples! -

The Intersection is a world class venue and about 700-1000 people were in attendance. It was very cool! This is the same place where organissimo opened for Scofield, but given the diverse and very stacked bill of regional favs, the crowd was much thicker. The place went nuts when org broke into Peaches and the fellas did themselves proud. The Meijer Gardens gig was also to capacity. Randy, Joe, and Jim, I am proud to call you friends. Greg "Did you guys dress for the occasion?" Randy had on some very sexy pajamas. -
Prince is a great showman, wonderful entertainer, clever tunesmith, babemagnet, and a fine guitarist. I would love to see him in concert. Never had the opportunity, but would welcome it for sure. To me, he is fun. To be in the studio audience at either event would have been sweet! g

AND, Jim is singing, producing, and arranging his butt off on this thing. Background vocals and he sings lead on the title track!!!!
