  1. I never read rmb, how did they rate the albums on the grunt-scale?
  2. more on this here: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=16542 no answers to your questions of why though.
  3. I hope you won't sue me for quoting your post
  4. that FAQ doesn't even say where Keith got the hamster
  5. and those were all from the late 1950s as well, right? http://www.bsnpubs.com/latin/seecorelated.html
  6. using this site's listing: http://paisleyhaze.com/dawn.htm and checking on number 228 by the Sophomores, google tells me it was recorded in April 1957. Number 237 gets an "early 1958" date. If the catalogue number means anything, the Bennet (#234) would have been recorded by the end of the 1950s.
  7. such a big ass orange pilon through the roof is indeed a spooky thing

    Martial Solal

When did Solal and Griffin first record together? I saw footage from German Television, recorded in 1965, a Workshop with Wes Montgomery. Solal and Griffin were also present. At one point Solal takes on On Green Dolphin Street in trio setting. A pretty amazing performance actually and Griffin goes insane over it. You can see him shuffling in the background to get a good view of Solal, who is workin his keyboard like a cook baking a caserole. Later you can see Griffin moving over to directly behind Solal and once the performance is over he starts crying out "ridiculous! Ridiculous!" Which he mutters on for some time until they start a 5tet version of Blue Monk. Griffin has a little twinkle in his eye now. It looks as if he wasn't familiar with Solal that much when this footage was shot.

  16. I would welcome an additional forum rule that makes it explicit that any racist or otherwise discriminating shit results in an immediate ban. I would also welcome if such unhealthy crap be deleted pronto. It rubs off. I for one do not like to be associated with an internet forum that allows for racist crap to stay up for all to read, be it in a closed section or not. I doubt it does the band much good either.
  17. some wounds are too deep. The reaction of this board and the moderators to che's blatant anti-semitism has been a pretty disgusting ride for me. Next time a member posts something that utterly crude, ban his ass right away, please. No excuses and no nanny-ing. There should never be tolerance for this kind of thing. Never. I could have started a crusade, and although I posted some real nasty things in reply (my apologies if I offended others by that), I rather took a back seat for a while. That his crap remained online to me was a stain on the board and on all of us. I have not bothered to have his shit removed as I know others were doing their part to achieve that. Many mails and PMs were exchanged. Freedom of speech is a nice thing, but in my view it should not be put above a basic respect for others. Once you cross that line, your ass is free to receive some leather. Maybe living in an area where some real scary marches take place every once in a while has made me too alert and allergic to this kind of thing. But it has also taught me hate. And hate is a bad motherfucker and it makes me yell and say and post things that do not fit me at all. I admit I was on the guy's case and I admit my senses were sharpened and more easily stung by his annoying posting habits. Once again I apologise if I have offended. My apologies in particular to Jim for quoting his post to make my point.
  18. I've seen this one go for at least $150 in mono, if it has the ear. that and more...
  19. 1947, Lester Young records 4 tunes for Aladdin, 3 were issued, one was lost... 1959, Mel Tormé - Olé Tormé (Verve)
  20. they will make you carry their jackets! (and shoes)
  21. I still propose to delete the anti-semitist thread. It rubs really wrong in many ways and rubs off on this board, the band, and even on those who post here. Sorry to say, but I am still disturbed posting on a board that allows such crap to stay up for all to see. Maybe I am over-sensitive, but maybe I have a right to be...
  22. too cheap to get a haircut, but have those legs shaven alright! heheheh. let us know when the next album is up. OR when you guys will be playing at a venue near here.
  23. What makes me uncomfortable is seeing people look the other way all the time. My shitheaded stoopid mistake for sure, but still uncomfortable. Also amazing that the same people looking the other way seem to be lamenting institutionalising that in an ignore function. Happy dreams and many pink clouds to you.
