My worry is that they're using these free codes to just clear out their inventory for an eventual shut down...
-
Two more: S8E4 - Get one free S8E5 - Get 3 free I'm starting to run out of things I want from BMG! But I don't want to miss these freebies, if the codes get deactivated, either.

Ok, I stand corrected! It's been a long time since I owned the Yes box that had that on it.

I never thought "Run with the Fox" was a Christmas song, unless they've completely changed the lyrics.

There's a BMG thread on the DVD Talk Forum. I discovered it a while back and bookmarked it. People post the codes there. Where the codes originate from, I have no idea! But I'm not going to turn them down either. At this point BMG wouldn't be issuing them if they had problems with so many folks using them, I think. PS - there's a thread about free magazine subscriptions on there too. Sometimes find some decent things. I've ended up with Paste, Blender, TV Guide (not sure why I got this, as I really don't watch much tv at all other than sportsl & news), and Motor Trend.

Up for MoGrubb a day in advance, so you don't miss it this year! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Could be interesting. I wonder if there are any guitar duet type tracks (ala Bass Desires w/Sco & Frisell), or if they're all quartet tracks. I'd also be more interested in Trucks than Fleck in general (reversing the backhanded comment LOL). Does Fleck actually play guitar on this, as opposed to banjo?

Since leaving ECM, his last few albums feature really poor artwork, IMO. Looks like stuff that a teenager could put together on a PC in about 15 minutes.

I think McNabb had an excellent game, other than the two fumbles he caused (one turnover i think). The final play call cost them a chance at the end, not McNabb's play, IMO. Two of the best 3-4 teams in the NFL tonight, I think.

Some mistakes on both sides, as well as some bad officiating so far. Romo had back to back bonehead plays - the interception that resulted in a TD drive, and the fumble in the end zone on the next play. Cowboys also had a couple of facemask penalties that weren't called, while there was a pass interference called against the Cowboys that put the ball on the 1 or 2 yrd line that shouldn't have been called at all. It was offensive pass interference pretty clearly. Meanwhile Desean Jackson got bailed out when he dropped the ball prior to crossing the end zone on his long TD reception. Fun game!

Dang, crazy game here! I had the total points at 49 for our pool. It's 48 already, and it's not even half time!!

Happy Birthday Dan Gould

Happy Late BD, Dan! Hope you had a shot or two of Rocket Fuel to help you celebrate! -
I agree it was odd, Dan, especially in light of the "CERTAIN DEATH" warnings that were being issued for people (even those in 2 story homes) on Galveston Island. But that's what the Houston folks were told to do. From CBS's website, back on Thursday: "We are still saying: Please shelter in place, or to use the Texas expression, hunker down," said Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, the county's chief administrator. "For the vast majority of people who live in our area, stay where you are. The winds will blow and they'll howl and we'll get a lot of rain, but if you lose power and need to leave, you can do that later." Authorities hoped to avoid the panic of three years ago, when evacuations ordered in advance of Hurricane Rita sent millions scurrying in fright and caused a monumental traffic jam so big that cars ran out of gas or overheated. Ultimately, the evacuation proved deadlier than the storm itself. A total of 110 people died during the exodus, including 23 nursing home patients whose bus burst into flames while stuck in traffic. This time, traffic was bumper-to-bumper on the freeway leading away from Galveston immediately after the evacuation order, but by late afternoon, many evacuees had made it past Houston, to the north. And just in time: Waves were already inundating the beach on one end of Galveston Island. Houston Mayor Bill White said one of the lessons of Rita mess was that too many people fled who didn't need to. Instead, he asked residents to protect their homes.

I'm back, and thanks for the concern. I did go up to San Antonio (actually had a mini-reunion with some of my high school friends from Wiesbaden, Germany - also had a drink in the Menger Hotel, where Teddy Roosevelt put together his Rough Riders), and it was nice weather all weekend there. Finished unboarding my windows about an hour ago. We had no problem here in town with the hurricane. My sister lives in Houston and they heeded the mayor/governor's recommendation to "hunker down". They live in the center of the city, and had some damage, but nothing major. They are without electricity though, and have been told it may be up to 2 weeks before it comes back on. And no running water, either. Talked to her on her cell phone earlier today, and she said they wouldn't likely ride another one out, but this one turned towards Houston so late the officials didn't want another scenario like they had during Hurricane Rita, when everyone was stuck on the highways trying to get away, and have the storm hit at that point. I hope Garthsj and Clifford's family and anyone else in Houston or the path of the storm are doing ok.

<wannabe musician> I have a gig in San Antonio starting tomorrow </wannabe musician> I booked a hotel room in S.A. a day before the rush I guess, so I got lucky. I'm watching the news - our local Padre Island beaches are starting to flood a bit already this evening. And they're saying that water *will* be all the way to the west side of Port Aransas (throughout the town I guess). I'm not sure what that really means as far as overall flooding, but it doesn't sound real good. Weather guy just said our local storm surge will be 5'.

National Weather Service is saying that anyone on Galveston Island and the Texas coast that's going to get hit, who are in 1 or 2 story buildings and choose to stay face CERTAIN DEATH. The mayor of Galveston was on tv earlier, saying that 75% of the island (or the town, not sure which she was referring to) had been evacuated. I hope the remaining 25% don't choose to try and ride it out. This thing's getting scary.

That sort of like Wolf Biermann being the German Bob Dylan, which everyone (including Ron S) is well aware of!

I liked his recent duet cd with Bill Frisell - The Elephant Sleeps but Still Remembers. As well as his work on the Trio Beyond CD - that one might be his best in recent years to me.
