Yes is Pulling a "Journey"... Rock band Yes to tour with replacement singer WASHINGTON (AP) - The classic rock band Yes, which was forced to cancel their 40th anniversary tour this year due to the illness of its lead singer, has decided to relaunch the tour with an "understudy" - a Yes tribute band singer. Benoit David, who sings in several Yes tribute bands in Montreal, will replace Jon Anderson on the "In the Present" tour, which kicks of Nov. 4 in Ontario, Canada, according to bassist Chris Squire. "I think it's all going to work out fine," Squire told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Of course, realistically, there's an element of risk, but there always is." Yes, which consists of Squire, Anderson, guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Alan White, scrapped their anniversary tour in June after Anderson suffered acute respiratory failure and was ordered by doctors to rest six months. Squire found David on the Internet after a friend sent him a YouTube clip of David's tribute band, Close To The Edge. Squire liked what he saw and called David to offer an audition. "The first thing he said to me was, 'Well, I'm looking around to see where the cameras are in case I'm being punked,'" Squire said. Yes has taken a page from another classic rock group, Journey, who selected Arnel Pineda, a sound-a-like of old lead singer Steve Perry, to be their singer after the group discovered him singing Journey songs on YouTube. Pineda sang on the group's successful comeback album this year and has also been touring with them. It's not the first time Yes has had a singer besides Anderson. Trevor Horn sang on the 1980 Yes album "Drama" when Anderson briefly left the band. Squire hopes to work songs from that album into the set for the upcoming tour, plus a few songs he said were not Anderson's favorites to perform live but the rest of the band likes. <snip> edit - PS, How many Yes tribute bands can Montreal support?? Apparently several!

Thanks Free! I'm halfway done with boarding up my windows (stood in line 2+ hrs at Lowes tonight, waiting for some additional plywood), and will probably head to either San Antonio or Austin tomorrow night. The latest models are shifting the hurricane a bit further north of Corpus Christi, maybe as far up as Galveston. I think we'll still see some rain & wind, but hopefully not as much as a direct hit would cause. Hope any board members (garthsj?), and everyone else, that may be in the direct path stay safe.

<sigh> This Weather Channel map doesn't really help me plan for Hurricane Ike. Should I stay or should I go? That map is worthless. All of Texas COULD get hit. Thanks, Weather Channel.

I really thought the Vikes would beat the Packers. I guess Tavaris still isn't ready for prime time. I missed on 4 other picks, all of which were upsets I think. -
Anyone in the DFW area looking for a cheap car?

It's amazing it even looks THAT good, considering I've had it since it came out in 1984! The cassette, that is! The face, OTOH...... That's not your original face anymore?? LOL -

Bears surprised me tonight, beating the Colts in Indy. Their D looked really good.

Daunte retired (in a whining letter, too). Or is he un-retiring now suddenly?

Sounds like it's true: Sources: Brady out with ACL tear New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to a source familiar with the injury. While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, two sources indicated it involved serious damage to the knee. “It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.” <randomly placed article snip> ....Well this will be interesting. Belichek's system relies on plugging players into a system, and they've all responded in the past. Will have to see if Cassel can step up.

Cowboys looked solid in all aspects I thought. The Browns didn't look like they were ready for the regular season just yet. They have a good challenge playing the Steelers next weekend too. Potential concern for the Boys is Marion Barber having to go in for rib xrays. Hopefully nothing serious there, but Felix Jones looked pretty good in his debut. The defense didn't look like it missed Terence Newman too much, though Pacman did have one PI call that helped keep the Browns' lone TD drive going. Going to be a great challenge in the NFC East with the reigning champ Giants, the solid looking Eagles, and the Boys. Not sure if the Eagles looked THAT good or the Rams looked that bad, or both.

On any given day I'd probably give a different answer: No Woman No Cry (live) Stir It Up Lively Up Yourself Redemption Song (the acoustic version, not the band version) Is This Love?

If I was looking, I'd buy this just because of the humor in your posting! -
What live music are you going to see tonight?
Aggie87 replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Thank you ! I think it's a new trio with Matt Penman and Hayden Chisholm - both Kiwis. I've seen Penman with the SF Jazz Collective - nice player, and nice guy. -
What about images that are linked from other websites? This could get really messy.

Have a great day (and year!), Bob! You're still the only Org board member that I've met in person! LOL

The Skins defense held the Giants scoreless in the 2nd half, for whatever that's worth. I think their offense is in alot more trouble than their defense, in general.

I noticed when I "view picks" there's a big "F" next to my name. Does that stand for FAIL? -
Agreed.

I posted this in the DVD Corner, but thought it might catch some eyes over here too. For any Beatles fans, Amazon has the Deluxe Edition of Help! on sale as a "Gold Box" special today for $29.99. Normal retail is $135.00. This is the big box version with a reproduction of the script, lobby cards, poster, 60 page book, and slipcase. Link A good deal, as the regular DVD edition of Help! retails for about $30 anyway. Gold Box deals are only good for one day, for a certain amount of copies I believe. If anyone's interested in this, I don't think you'll find it cheaper.

Is there a place in there to taunt each other, or is that better to do here? I'm already laughing at Conn either way. -
