Amazon UK also now says Oct.29. So having been relegated to the back we are now ahead of the pack? Best price too!

Confirmed my opinion - Caveman jumped the shark going from commercials to tv show. It's dead. R.I.P. - Phil Hartman - he deserves to be credited for the success of the commercials and now the show if you ask me. It's a ripoff of his SNL sketches.

Out of curiousity, if you had cancer or something, what action would you hope they would take? I'm guessing that's who was being asked to pray in this thread in the first place. Those who believe. Why make a strong statement that "realistically" it won't do any good, if you respect those who do believe? I'm with Al and Chris and others, just wish him well and leave it at that, if that's what you're willing to offer.
-
I think Have No Fear is available directly from Chuck.
-
Hans - I'm assuming George Cables wants people's prayers, based on Valerie's asking for them. If it is something that gives him comfort or hope, that's his choice. Seconded.
-
If George wanted people to pray for him, and asked for them, why can't that be respected? If it gives him comfort, that's a good thing. Why make an issue in this thread about whether prayers will "realistically" do it or not? Why do people have to draw attention to theirselves by offering up their opinion on religion, instead of just wishing Mr. Cables well and leaving it at that?
-
Seconded!
-
Why? Why can't you adopt a "to each their own" mentality and accept that others get comfort from their faith? It's not your business whether they choose this path or not anyway. Faith (or non-faith) is a personal thing, not something that needs to be trumpeted out constantly. And I don't see anyone continually challenging you because you're an atheist - it's you that seems to have some deep-seeded need to challenge them regularly. In other words, you're the provoker. I could care less whether you're a believer or an atheist. For instance - why even comment in a thread that asks for people to pray for someone - like George Cables? If that person receives comfort in any way knowing that others pray for him (whether the prayers themselves do anything or not), why do you have to make comments proclaiming your beliefs yet again? I don't care for fanatical evangelists on either side of the aisle - believers or non-believers. Faith is a personal thing. (NOTE - I could have sworn you said "I don't tell people what they SHOULD believe, I just tell them what I believe. I would never presume to tell you that you cannot or should not believe in God if that is your personal choice" earlier in this thread - doesn't that contradict what you're now saying again?)

I still think your narrow definition is out of date, Chris, and not what's used by the majority of the population. From allmusic's review of Annie Lennox' "Medusa": Def Leppard's "Yeah": Diana Ross' "I Love You": Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around": And to toss in a jazz disc, Brad Mehldau's "Day is Done": -
From an interview here: Music Street Journal: What's going on with King Crimson these days? Pat Mastelotto: Robert has made the call to start up again and, while nothing is fixed we are planning to begin rehearsals next year - a few weeks at a time and lead up to some residence gigs, no long tours, and at this point Robert doesn't want to play outside the USA. We will be a 5 piece and i think you know 4 of us. In fact I'm sure you know the 5th man too (an incredible drummer that i will be delighted to work with). I think you'll have to tune in to Robert's diary over at the DGM site and await the official announcement. The 4 would be Fripp, Belew, Levin, and Mastelotto. There's some speculation in some Porcupine Tree circles that the fifth member may be Gavin Harrison, PT's drummer. Fripp did some work with Harrison earlier this year, back in May.

Um....thanks, I think. Sorry, I've just been riled up lately, I guess. -
When this thing finally does arrive, it's going to look good!

Again, for people my age and younger, I think that is the accepted definition of "cover". If that's what people believe and accept to be it's definition, does that make it sloppy? I don't think that's the case. "High speed internet access" used to be defined as a 56K modem. Nowadays there's T1, broadband, wireless, you name it. Times change, and definitions change. For me, I haven't come to grips with MP3s versus physical CDs. I need the physical thing - cd, lp, whatever. That's part of my paradigm, but it's not the case for a 20 year old who has his complete library on his Ipod, and is fine with that. That's where my definition of music hasn't kept up with the times. -
Ok I'll bite - what's the CBD? Commercial Business District?

MG PS should have put in a link to the article. Here 'tis (no sammich). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macarena_(song) I see what you're describing, which to me is a cover (by today's definition) just as much as Jason Moran covering Bjork or Annie Lennox covering Neil Young. The intent may be different (in Macarena's case to trick people into thinking you're the artist with the hit), obviously, but they're all covers of other artist's work. -
Be careful Jim - spam does come in turkey flavor too!

My comments weren't to address anything about Jesus - I commented to provide an example of Alexander mocking other's beliefs, in contrast to his comment that he only tells people what he believes...not what they should or shouldn't believe. He's offended by Clem's comments (and yet continues to bait him as you said - he mentions Clem a heckuva more than Clem mentions him). And yet he purposely tries to offend others about their personal beliefs, and later makes comments like "I recognize to some that it was in poor taste". Well, yeah.

You didn't post that image in an art forum or thread though. You posted it in a thread that someone else posted about their belief in God. You posted it KNOWING that the people that are Christian take the image of Christ seriously.
-
I don't think you're being honest with yourself. This may be how you want to see yourself, but do you think that's how you come across? You openly mock Christians and Christianity on this board regularly. You post Piss Christ pictures, with your own admitted purpose to "tweak" Christians or something, that it should be no big deal to them. Remember this: If that's not mocking others for their beliefs, what is?

If we already have a perfectly good word for recording a tune that somebody else has recorded, what is it?
