  1. Is A&M's coaching nightmare coming to an end finally?? Texas A&M buys out head coach Franchione Dennis Franchione agreed to a buyout Monday from Texas A&M and is out as coach. It was not initially clear if Franchione will remain as coach through the remainder of the season. As CBSSports.com reported two weeks ago, Franchione began speaking to school officials about his buyout. The Aggies are 6-4 after losing to then-No. 6 Oklahoma 42-14 on Saturday. Woohooo!!

  3. Happy Birthday GA!~ I think Free's overdue for a birthday by the way!
  4. That's the same argument for any team in the league though. They're all supposed to strive to become Super Bowl Champions. I think they're for real. Are they equal to Indy and the Patriots? Well, they're .500 against them in their most recent head-to-head meetings. Is there room for improvement? Of course. The Dallas CB's still aren't completely healthy. That's a question mark. They lost NT Jason Ferguson, and have Tank Johnson coming in to make up for that. That's a question mark. Does Tony Romo occasionally throw INTs? Yep. But which other QBs in the league other than Manning and Brady would you trade him for? I can't think of any. edit - MAYBE Carson Palmer, but even then I'm not sure I'd do that.
  5. What? Until we can even think about competing on an equal footing with Indy & The Martyrs...uh, 'scuse me, PATRIOTS we best just shut up and keep trying to improve. Dallas is for real. They're awfully close to the Pats and Dolts, I think. NFC is for real. Green Bay! Lions! Browns! (oops that's AFC!) Giants! I think they're for real, too. I don't know if they could beat the Pats or Colts in the playoffs, but they WERE the first team to beat the Colts last season. Colts were 9-0 at the time. They also were ahead of the Patriots midway through the 3rd quarter this year, but (obviously) lost. The Cowboys get Tank Johnson back from his suspension this week, too. I think the defense is getting healthier and should be solid, if no major injuries occur. I don't think Terry Glenn will be back this year though. But the offense has done well without their best receiver all year so far.
  6. I think Dallas will beat the Eagles, 35-21. Not TOO far off. 38-17. Jason Witten had a great run after getting his helmet knocked off. Witten's a football playing dude. I remember a few years back when he broke his jaw and don't think he missed a single game. edit - One other thing I find impressive: Romo has had 8 300-yard passing games already, with 18 (I think) career starts now. To put that in perspective, Troy Aikman had 13 TOTAL 300 yard games in his career, and second on the Cowboys all time list is Danny White with 10. Romo should easily eclipse that particular team record.
  7. This game could have easily gone either way. It wasn't a definitive win by the Pats, IMO. Had the Pats not caused that fumble at the end, it's entirely possible they (the Colts) could have gone on to win. Either way, it was a good game between two pretty much equally matched opponents. Would the Colts have won with a healthy Marvin Harrison playing?
  8. You gotta stay in order, Goodspeak. Tiny Tim Miss Vicki Michael Vick
  9. Vegas turned out to be right. I think the Pats were a 4.5 pt favorite to win, and they won by 4. That outcome wasn't secured until Manning's late fumble, though. Well, I got the winner right, anyway.
  10. you realize you can avoid this by illegally ownloading? I hope you're joking, and not promoting illegal downloading.
  11. New email from Swiss Marketplace vendor: Dear customer, we expect to receive delivery of this item any day now. We have informed our supplier and are doing our upmost to have the item sent out to you asap. Thank you for understanding. Hmmm.
  12. In case #2 you have two people that can satisfy their hunger for the music contained on those discs. One of them paid. But as the owner of the CD in question, I should have the right to "gift" that music to my friends. Again, I'm not talking about illegal downloading. I'm not making the music available to the whole world. I'm GIVING music that I personally paid for to ONE person. You (and others) focus on the fact that "two different people can listen to the same music in two different locations," while ignoring the fact that physical location/proximity to the music being played is becoming increasingly irrelevant. When I listen to music on the radio, SOMEONE paid money for that music (and for the broadcasting rights), but I sure didn't. Yet I am listening to it anyway. When I buy music on iTunes, I am allowed to make a limited number of copies (I know that these are SUPPOSED to be for "personal use only." Bongs are SUPPOSED to be for "tobacco use only"). When I buy a CD, I could bring it over to my friend's house every single day and listen to it with him. Two people are going to listen to that CD, but only one paid for it. It seems silly to quibble about such things. Distributing something to the whole world for free that you do not own is certainly wrong. Sharing with your pals seems to be a positive virtue. Or didn't you learn about that in Kindergarten? Copying something you don't have the license or right to do so with is illegal. It's also unethical. And it's quite different than "sharing" as you prefer to call it. Sharing is for consumable things like cookies. Letting a friend borrow an LP or CD is sharing. The license for that copy is legitimate. Burning a copy is not sharing, nor is it legitimate. There is no legitimate license for that burnt copy. I'm amazed you can't see that this deprives an artist, producer, and record company of due compensation. And that you clearly don't care. You aren't ENTITLED to free copies of music at your whim.

  14. If Vince Wilburn decrees it, so will it be.
  15. I am doing that - I have no home phone. It works great!
  16. Just got my cancellation, too. It's down to the Marketplace vendor now. I'm guessing they won't ever get it either. Oh well.
  17. I think Dallas will beat the Eagles, 35-21. If you mean that "other" game, then I think the Pats will win, 107-84.
  18. More often than not, they don't... Okay, maybe the word "deserved" isn't quite right. "Was entitled to" - does that make better sense? I think the point is still the same though. I think one of the flaws in the logic Alexander & Guy were using in the other thread is focusing on how many "owners" of the music there are. The real focus (I think) is the number of legitimate copies that have been sold. What happens (legally) to the copies after they're sold isn't controllable, nor should it really be. Just like second hand markets for any other consumer goods. Buying a used car would certainly take on a whole new dimension if you had to pay an additional $2K directly to GM if you wanted to buy used Caprice or something.
  19. But the artist/rights holder DID earn their royalties off the LP, so it's a legitimate product that's just transferring hands. The artist made what he/she deserved from that copy of the vinyl. The illegal download does not benefit the artist in the same manner.

  21. From Musictap: Fantasy Records will re-reissue a Miles Davis title, Bag’s Groove (1954), on April 1. They will reissue Rollins Plays for Bird (1956) from Sonny Rollins on the same date. Also - great news: Concord Jazz has already penciled in Charlie Brown TV Themes from David Benoit, putting this on the calendar for release on April 15. Concord will also release Rhythm and Romance from Kenny G on February 5.
  22. I ordered from the Swiss Marketplace vendor. Got an email from them on Friday, saying "Your order is not yet ready to be shipped. Our supplier has confirmed that the item should be on its way to us shortly." I don't know if that means they expect to get it, or if they will follow suit with Amazon UK and eventually cancel orders. I also ordered from Amazon UK directly (figuring I'd cancel one of them if the other actually came through), and it hasn't been cancelled....yet.
  23. I'd like to apologize for my behavior in this thread to everyone. It's not positive, and I need to do a better job of thinking before typing sometimes. Some things aren't worth getting into. Sorry. -Erik
  24. So, you got 1/2 of one question out of 3 correct (or 1 out of 6). You are actually further off on C than you were before, but I'll let that slide. That equates to a .167 batting average. Perhaps you need some steroids like your hero to artificially boost your numbers. I think my logic is quite fine. If you think guessing/assuming and getting a .167 percentage correct makes your decisions sound logically, well, you're clearly not operating on the same playing field as everyone else. And you are clearly hiding the truth of the matter and clouding it with some other such nonsense to cover. Come clean, then. You made the accusations now back it up once, Aggie....or can you? Hm. What "truth" does your hyperactive imagination think I'm hiding? And what accusation did I make? Stop toking, dude. I lived in Germany on multiple occasions at different ages. Not that that's any of your business. Why do ASSUME so much? You're totally bizarre. I wasn't 5 years old living in Germany. Your ASSUMPTIONS are becoming embarrassing. I've also lived in and out of Texas multiple times since 18 yrs of age as well. Because I'm a Cowboys fan you ASSUMED I had to be a military brat to live in Germany. How about this - instead of ASSUMING so much, you simply ask polite questions instead of slamming people? Corpus Christi indeed.
