  1. Found this in a Half Price Book Store today, not a bad comp for this era of Miles. It is a UK release only (I think?). Liner notes by Wallace Roney.
  2. I'd never heard of it until this thread actually. Kobe apparently coined it himself. I don't like self generated nicknames - reminds me of Michael Jackson declaring himself "King of Pop"... which he is most certainly not. He lives in AZ. That address by his avatar is the address for Sanford & Son I believe.
  3. Is that a new nickname? I've never heard it in all the years Kobe's been a Laker.
  4. The recent issue of Classic Rock magazine has a Top 50 Prog Albums of all time list, that goes like this: 50 Hawkwind - Space Ritual 49 Marillion - Afraid Of Sunlight 48 Gong - Radio Gnome Invisible Part 2 Angels Egg 47 Genesis - Nursery Cryme 46 Magenta - Seven 45 Emerson Lake & Palmer - Trilogy 44 Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom 43 Genesis - Duke 42 UK - UK 41 Yes - Fragile 40 Tool - Lateralus 39 Rush - A Farewell To Kings 38 Pink Floyd - Meddle 37 Marillion - Fugazi 36 Porcupine Tree - Deadwing 35 Camel - Moonmadness 34 Rush - Snakes and Arrows 33 IQ - Subterranea 32 Spocks Beard - Snow 31 Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime 30 Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet 29 Rush - Moving Pictures 28 IQ - The Wake 27 Rush - 2112 26 Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick 25 Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt 2, Scenes From A Memory 24 Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans 23 Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells 22 Yes - The Yes Album 21 Caravan - In The Land Of Grey and Pink 20 Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos 19 Camel - Snow Goose 18 Opeth - Watershed 17 Marillion - Misplaced Childhood 16 Genesis - Trick Of The Tail 15 Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts 14 Marillion - Brave 13 Emerson Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery 12 King Crimson - Red 11 Yes - Going For The One 10 Porcupine Tree - In Absentia 9 Pink Floyd - The Wall 8 Yes - Relayer 7 Genesis - Foxtrot 6 King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King 5 Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here 4 Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 3 Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon 2 Yes - Close to the Edge 1 Genesis - Selling England By The Pound Interesting list. It seems to cover all eras more than many lists I've seen, which have focused mainly on the 70's. I don't know if it's a list that was generated by the readers in a poll, or if it's the magazine's list.
  5. Aggie87=Chewy Hey! I don't like Phil Collins THAT much! LOL
  6. RIP David. I always thought he would have made a great Thomas Covenant, if those books had ever been turned into movies.
  7. I think I want to follow the French Open as long as Simona Halep is competing:
  8. Are you guys brave enough to stay with Ron again??
  9. I don't think Facebook will help you, to be honest. It's not a place where masses of people go to look for concert information. There are sites for specific bands on there (including our illustrious hosts), which is good for getting word out for their shows - but typically that's for people who are already fans of the band. Unless the musicians you are employing already have Facebook pages, in which case you/they could advertise on their pages, to their pre-existing fan base.
  10. I wonder what this could mean..... I think it's like: Murphy's Law Beethoven's Fifth Foucault's Pendulum Schrodinger's Cat ... Eicher's Dilemna
  11. I'm looking forward to this one! I'm assuming "Dress" = Drew Gress!
  12. Would you be willing to trade that for a brand-new, unopened Wolf Biermann CD? He is the German Bob Dylan, after all. We've been through this before, you know this isn't a fair trade. How about the Rivers Mosaic plus $100 for the one Biermann cd?
  13. In addition to the ones Bev mentioned, the following are also coming out: Jun 30: Andy Sheppard - Movements in Colour Louis Sclavis - Lost on the Way Aug 4: Surman/Abercrombie/Dress/DeJohnette - Brewster's Rooster Aug 25: Stefano Bollani - no title yet Anouar Brahem - The Astounding Eyes of Rita Chick Corea/Gary Burton - The Crystal Silence Kashkashian/Olivero - Olivero/Mansurian/Steinberg
  14. Isn't this the same type of program through which the Organissimo board gets some (minimal?) income from our purchase, when we use their link at the top of this board? Either way, this thread is SPAMalicious!
  15. I've got an extra #167 The Complete Blue Note Sam Rivers Sessions (3 CDs). Yes, I'm an idiot and bought something I already had. Be willing to trade it for for a similar set, if there's anyone out there interested.
  16. The packaging/booklets of the Selects are not in the same league as that of the regular Mosaics, Niko. The Selects are "budget" oriented offerings from Mosaic, or at least they were when they started the program, I think. So the information and packaging are quite a bit simpler.
  17. I'm interested in checking out alll three of these titles, thanks for the heads up, Bev! Interesting to see a WR tribute on ECM.
  18. Three if you get technical - in addtion to those two, there is also the two disc version plus DVD.
  19. Wes will arm wrestle you for Edaj, I bet!
  20. For anyone interested in the Yes "In a Word" 5 disc box set, there's a seller (Deep Discount DVD CD) on Amazon offering it for about $15 shipped. I bought it because there are a couple of exclusive tracks on it. Just like I bought the 3 disc "Ultimate Yes" set. Even though I have all of the original albums. Sigh.
  21. Found a couple of interesting titles at that big box store that starts with a "W" today: Jackson Browne - Running On Empty cd + dvda Steely Dan - Everything Must Go cd + dvd Bob Dylan - MTV Unplugged Each of these were $5! I think they're remaindered or something, which is odd to find in a big retailer.
