  1. Ruta Lee. i think she still continues to do the dress and makeup, etc. but it doesn't come off like it used to. some people just don't want to change with the times.
  2. wow, another legend passes. so glad he lived to a pretty ripe old age.
  3. Veronika Lake
  4. amen, Fasstrack! thanks for sharing.
  5. and Richard Long reminds me a bit of Robert Goulet. sorry i can't post his picture!
  6. one of his many girlfriends!
  7. Dina Merrill
  8. i can totally relate to what you're all saying. given that, when i've recently heard someone like Benny Green, Robert Glasper or Gerald Clayton in a trio, it's been a different story.
  9. i remember Robert Q very well. he was very suave.
  10. i understand your sentiments 100% but i think the image and sentiments are inappropriate for a birthday celebration for a 78-year old man. just my 2 cents worth.
  11. JSngry: would you please explain your "birthday" post to Wayne?!?
  12. i love Wayne and i love his playing and his writing. he's the best and i always and forever will wish the best for him.
  13. yes!! this was like giving birth!! LOL
  14. guess that proves i'm not "most" but just "old"!! LOL
  15. Will Jordan! i didn't think he was with us anymore.
  16. what can i say except that i'm envious!! enjoy!
  17. Dave Garroway. my Mom used to love him.
  18. Don't know and I'm not sure who it is. I just thought Jymie Merritt was an older (middle-aged) cat by this time. This guy looks pretty young, whoever it is. Jymie was probably mid-40's at this time. guessing the trumpet was Jimmy Owens and the sax, maybe Harold Vick?!?
  19. he was probably soused a lot of the time as well!
  20. sad to say that Thelma Mitchell died quite a few years ago. i don't believe they had children together but am not sure. they were my neighbors for years in West Hollywood!
  21. You mean Bily Harper... that's him on tenor! thanks, i knews George didn't sound right. Billy Harper it is. he's still playing wonderfully these days and still looking good as well! p.s. actually George Harper is a horn player here in L.A.!
  22. Some info: January 26, 1972 (to be posted) ‘The Blue Note Show’ Guests: Keyboardist Horace Silver with vocalists Andy and Salome Bey, trumpeter Lee Morgan, flutist Bobbi Humphrey Host: Ellis Haizlip SOUL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB7eL5tXNUI No way that's Horace Silver on piano. Looks more like Harold Mabern. Who's the saxophone player? Cool video. definitely Harold. sax might be George Harper?
  23. Patti Page
  24. i think Chuck might have just explained it. i'm using the regular "Reply" instead of the "Fast Reply". i'll try that from now on! thanks.
