  1. I’m not real good at describing my own music, but it's definitely 'in the tradition' as they say - although we do incorporate elements of free improvisation, rock, reggae, and modern classical in there as well. I think this new recording is going to take a lot of people by surprise. It's much more aggressive than the first CD which was mellow and more traditional. Anyway, yeah - check out the web site as Chuck suggested.
  2. Hi all, I was wondering who here has their own radio show. I already know about David & Lazaro's shows...is there anyone else? Reptet is poised to release our next CD and I'd like to send all the DJ's a copy for possible air play. Thanks -john
  3. Or Eric Dolphy!!! Oh no, he didn't drink....NEVERMIND.
  4. Kansas
  5. Why take the chance? Go down to the liquor store, take 15 bucks out your wallet, and get a new bottle of Canadian Club you cheapskate.
  6. I think this picture captures her spirit better.
  7. There were others that started out non-political and got moved because of where the conversation led. But like I said, not a conclusion, just an observation is all.
  8. Why do you consider the political forum a "hidden hole?" It's the second most trafficked forum on this site. Because if you're not a member you can't see it.
  9. Funny how a thread on 'Broke Back Mountain' that strayed into political territory got sucked into the hidden hole faster than Dick Cheney's trigger finger, yet a thread on sex offenders which strays into politics (by the board administrater himself no less) stays safe as a bug in a rug. No conclusion, just an observation.
  10. 'Negro Speed King'? I thought that was Rick James!
  11. For all the jass lovers in the house:
  12. For all the jazz lovers in da house:
  13. And are there any in Seattle?
  14. Yeah well, even the great Ted Williams only got a hit 35% of the time. He's still the best hitter in the history of baseball. Pfffegh. Shoeless Joe Jackson. I don't mean to show disrespect to the deceased by hijacking Mr. Penn's thread, but surely you don't mean to say that Shoeless Joe was a better hitter than Ted Williams do you Moose? Shoeless Joe hit over .400 only once, in 1911 - an era where that feat wasn't that uncommon. Ted Williams played in the modern era and no one has hit .400 since he did in 41'. Shoeless Joe played 13 seasons with 54 HR's - Teddy ended his career with 521! And he had the prime of his career taken away by WWII. Career OBP for Williams .482 compared to .423 for Jackson. Come on Moose, please tell me you're yankin' my chain.

  16. Same here. Has anyone ever seen him smile? He always looks pissed off. Like in that Altman movie 'Shortcuts'? Yes, very scarey. But come on guys, you may not like Sean Penn the person, but he's one hell of an actor - Dead man Walking, Mystic River, Bad Boys, Casualties of War, Colors, Carlito's Way, The Thin Red Line, etc. etc. The man's got skills. His brother was good, but he is great.
  17. With all due respect for the deceased...are you insane?
  18. And she went with Sgt. Slaughter? so who does everybody thinks gonna win Super Bowl XL...Sgt. Slaughter or the sinister Captain Kangaroo?
  19. I saw it, but my recollections of it got sucked into the hidden hole. I know longer remember a thing.
  20. Depends. How much money we be talkin' bout?
  21. Take the horn out your mouth.
  22. Hey, watch it buddy!!! (you just described me to a tee) DOB:3/3/70
  23. Boxer/Briefs Those are all I wear now-a-days. They keep your package under control yet don't make you look like a dork in tighty whighties. Hey Soulstation1, is that Skinny Black you have set up as your avitar?
  24. It does seems a bit odd, but sometimes it happens that when all the music is packaged together it gives it a sense of cohesion that can not be present in one session . For me, a perfect example of this is the Elvin Jones Mosaic set. There are albums on that set that I wouldn't give five stars on their own. But I would give the set itself 5 stars. When all the individual sessions are heard in sequence, a unity emerges which makes each session somewhow shine more brightly. Took the words right out of my mouth.
