  1. BTW, I've always been the voice of reason. But with the conservatives constantly slapping me unside the head with misinformation and straight out lies, it's hard to be taken seriously when fact is fiction and truth is a by-product of the maginalized. Now my little organissimo droogies, itty off to the local GOP offices and tolchock their yarbles till you can viddy the strack in their bugatty glazzies, then bolnoy their gorlo's slowly as they shit their spoogy neezhnies.
  2. I'm sorry, but getting aid (and lots of it) to these nations as quickly as possible is very much part of this story. Sometimes there isn't a line between life and politics...they are one in the same. I think we can all agree that $15 million from the worlds one and only super power is simply not enough. We need to lead in this world and these are the type of opportunities that Bush administration should jump on to show the world that we are a benevolent and caring nation. Hopefully Bush will realize this before it's too late (we have a very small window of time with which to work with to avoid a humanitarian disaster). In the mean time, there are private relief agencies that need our support. I encourage all to give generously to these agencies and do all they can within their means.
  3. I second the Revolutionary Ensemble's The Psyche! Also: All the America (Emarcy/Universal France) reissues Charles Bukowski Reads His Poetry (Takoma) Albert Ayler - Holy Ghost: Rare & Unissued Recordings (1962-1970)
  4. Just in case anyone is interested, this site has authentic retro Negro League Jersey's for 59 bucks. Just got my Satchel Page KC Monarchs Jersey last week. What a bargain! Real wool replicas that normally go for upwards of $200 for $59!

  6. I assure everyone it is real. We're a big hit in Falluja from what he tells us. They call it 'Insurgent Music' over there. Who would have known?
  7. This is a real, unadulterated photograph sent to us by a friend serving in Iraq. We gave him some stickers and he sent this back. For those who don't know, The Monktail Creative Music Concern is a musicians collective and record label that I am a member of here in Seattle. For more details on this photo and the collective in general, go to www.monktail.com.
  8. That might be true, but I can't seem think that Johnson gonna run out of steam one of these years. Power pitchers usually pitch hard until one day, often quite suddenly, poof! it's gone! What is he, 42? I think it would be hilarious if Johnson ran out of gas pitching for the yanks this year. But I have learned never to count Randy Johnson out...he's areal gamer. As far as the M's, yeah, they seem like a brand new team! They went from one of the oldest and tired looking teams in baseball to being one of the youngest most promising in one off season. Now if we could just pick up a innings eating starter and a middle reliever we'd be ready to compete for the playoffs again.
  9. Sexson? Well we’ll see if he re-injures himself. But Beltre? He's only 25! He can only get better. Look at those numbers he posted last year: 48 hr's, 121 RBI, .334 average Beltre is gonna be a great hitter for the M's for many years to come no doubt in my mind. Plus Sexson and Beltre are excellent (gold glove caliber) defensive players. Add them to Bret Boone in the infield and I’d say they are one of the best defensive infield in the game. They do need to add a front line pitcher, but they also have a competent rotation in Pineiro, Moyer, Franklin, Meche, and Villone. They have the all upside rookie Bobby Madritsch as well as Rafael Soriano and Eddie Guardado at the end. Add a solid innings eater up front and a left-handed middle reliever and I'd say the staff is pretty solid.
  10. First Sexson, now Beltre! The M's are bustin' some serious moves this year! Now if we could just get a front line starter and a middle reliever we'd be back in the game and then some. The M's owners are scared stiff that if they have another season like last years there will be a fan mass exodus. You can only shtup your fans for so long before they revolt.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of "Another Place" on the Moers label?
  12. Never liked Keith Jarrett. Don't like his vocalizations while playing, don't like his attitude, and I don't like the fact that he thinks he's the greatest piano player in the world. Oh, did I mention I don't like his stage presence either?
  13. Didn't everybody hear that our very own Chuck Nessa purchased the rights to the OJC catalog on November 30th? Way to go Chuck! How about these?
  14. I knew it had something to do with Porno movies.
  15. I just voted, and WOW, just me and one other got it right!
  16. Yes, I’ve found that DW’s sound great for jazz. They tune up and hold their tone extremely well (DW lugs are the best!). They are all maple, are pitch matched from drum to drum and handmade so you get no imperfections or anomalies. I find the DW’s have the brightest and longest sustain as well. Just slap some Ambassador coated heads on those jammy's and you're in drum heaven. Maybe the DW's you've played in the past had rock style heads (Evans, Powerstroke, or Black Dot) on em’. You gots to get the Remo Ambassadors or Fiberskyn 3’s. I don't know, I love em', but that’s just my opinion. You got to find what works for your style of playing.
  17. Me too, work's been hell. But then I read this post and it shut me right the fuck up. It can only get better Al, hang in there. Look on the bright side though, only 18 more days until Bush is sent packing.
  18. Stem cell research anyone?
  19. I found it odd that the article didn't even bother to explain the study's parameters for "beauty". Also, why is it just men prefer the "pretty face" in the title. It seems the article says this is universal, not gender based. That being said, I find this face very attractive:
  20. I believe Janet Leigh was one of the most beautiful Hollywood Actresses of all time. Her beauty came from her lovely face, perfect body, but also her earthy and unmistakably real charm. RIP janet.
  21. Come on now. I know one of you ol' jazzbo's got to have an old kit collecting dust in your attic, I know it.
  22. Ichiro: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Avg OBP SLG 2004 158 690 99 256 24 5 8 60 49 61 35 11 .371 .414 .455 Posada: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Avg OBP SLG 2004 136 447 72 121 31 0 21 81 88 92 1 3 .271 . 400 .481 Come on PhillyQ, If you add walks and hits Ichiro has 305, Posada has 202. Ichiro has 243 more AB's than Posada, but he also 135 more hits. 135!!! Posada only has 121 total! The OBP is important, but if you think Posada is as much of an impact player as Ichiro, I think maybe it’s because you don't get to watch the guy day in and day out like I do. He's truly is a phenomenon.
