  1. Didn't everybody hear that our very own Chuck Nessa purchased the rights to the OJC catalog on November 30th? Way to go Chuck! How about these?
  2. I knew it had something to do with Porno movies.
  3. I just voted, and WOW, just me and one other got it right!
  4. Yes, I’ve found that DW’s sound great for jazz. They tune up and hold their tone extremely well (DW lugs are the best!). They are all maple, are pitch matched from drum to drum and handmade so you get no imperfections or anomalies. I find the DW’s have the brightest and longest sustain as well. Just slap some Ambassador coated heads on those jammy's and you're in drum heaven. Maybe the DW's you've played in the past had rock style heads (Evans, Powerstroke, or Black Dot) on em’. You gots to get the Remo Ambassadors or Fiberskyn 3’s. I don't know, I love em', but that’s just my opinion. You got to find what works for your style of playing.
  5. Me too, work's been hell. But then I read this post and it shut me right the fuck up. It can only get better Al, hang in there. Look on the bright side though, only 18 more days until Bush is sent packing.
  6. I found it odd that the article didn't even bother to explain the study's parameters for "beauty". Also, why is it just men prefer the "pretty face" in the title. It seems the article says this is universal, not gender based. That being said, I find this face very attractive:
  7. I believe Janet Leigh was one of the most beautiful Hollywood Actresses of all time. Her beauty came from her lovely face, perfect body, but also her earthy and unmistakably real charm. RIP janet.
  8. Come on now. I know one of you ol' jazzbo's got to have an old kit collecting dust in your attic, I know it.
  9. Ichiro: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Avg OBP SLG 2004 158 690 99 256 24 5 8 60 49 61 35 11 .371 .414 .455 Posada: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Avg OBP SLG 2004 136 447 72 121 31 0 21 81 88 92 1 3 .271 . 400 .481 Come on PhillyQ, If you add walks and hits Ichiro has 305, Posada has 202. Ichiro has 243 more AB's than Posada, but he also 135 more hits. 135!!! Posada only has 121 total! The OBP is important, but if you think Posada is as much of an impact player as Ichiro, I think maybe it’s because you don't get to watch the guy day in and day out like I do. He's truly is a phenomenon.
  10. Walks don't drive in runs and move runners along the same way walks do. Plus Ichiro has a canon for an arm and steals bases. Which would you all want on your team, Posada or Ichiro? No brainer.
  11. Hey all, I recently bought a 18" natural satin oil DW bass drum. It's a perfect match for the old 50's solid maple Slingerland Radio King snare I have which has a natural finish as well. All I need now are a couple toms to complete my dream set. Here's what I'm looking for: one 10" or 12" rack tom either Gretsch, Slingerland, Leedy or DW one 14" or 16" floor tom either Gretsch, Slingerland, Leedy or DW It would be perfect if they we a natural finish, but that's not necessary. Any help would be much appreciated. -john

  17. I am totally amazed at how much you get with this unit for so little cash!!! I have watched Kill Bill Vol. I & II, Baadassss! and Spider Man. It fills my entire living room with moving and shifting sound! I have listened to the Residents DVD "Icky Flix" which has a number of videos in 5.1 surround and it is amazing. I have Zappa's Halloween DVD Audio disc somewhere but it's still packed away from my recent move and I haven't been able to find it yet. Regular CD's sound great, AM/FM wonderful. I really can't believe that I got what I got at such a low price. Thanks for the tips all, I'm a happy camper. Panasonic SC-HT700 from Tech for Less for $154.00!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I recently picked up this 5 DVD set: It is fantastic...here's the description: Includes 7 of only 13 Marx. Bros. films ever made! ? Bonus Extras including Commentary by Leonard Maltin. Collection includes: A Night at the Opera - The Marx Brothers turn Mrs. Claypool's opera into chaos in their efforts to help two young hopefuls get a break. It contains the famous scene where Groucho, Chico and Harpo cram a ship's stateroom with wall-to-wall people, gags, one-liners, musical riffs and two hard-boiled eggs. A Day at the Races (1937) - Groucho stars as Hugo Z. Hackenbush, a horse veterinarian dispensing horse pills and quips with equal glee. Chico selling racing tips, Harpo destroying a piano to turn it into a harp and favorite foil actress Margaret Dumont make this thoroughbred comedy wall-to-wall hilarity. A Night in Casablanca (1946) - This parody of the Bogart/Bergman 1943 classic features the Nazis vs. the "nutsies" as the Marx Brothers foil Axis criminals when they find stolen jewels and paintings Nazis have hidden in a hotel. Room Service/At the Circus - These two films are combined on one disc to provide double doses of laughter. In Room Service (1938), Lucille Ball and Ann Miller provide comic co-star support while the Marx Brothers play producers trying to keep their show above water and a hotel room over their head. In At the Circus (1939) Groucho stars as professional shyster lawyer J. Cheever Loophole in the middle of big-top bedlam as the boys try to save the circus and look to Margaret Dumont for the money to do so. Groucho sings one of his famous songs, "Lydia the Tattooed Lady." Go West/The Big Store - Another Marx Brothers twin bill makes this a hilarious comedy "two-fer." In the first, the Marxmen Go West (1940) to the land of outlaws and Indians where the fun never stops and where they outwit a land grabber. In The Big Store (1941), Groucho plays Attorney Wolf J. Flywheel who with sidekick Wacky (Harpo) and bodyguard Ravelli (Chico) are investigating the shady dealings of a crooked department store owner. Picked it up for $25 on ebay. I highly recommend. Can't wait for the Paramounts. Duck Soup is a classic!
  19. My short list: Jackie Mitto - Macka-Fat Black Uhuru - Red Linton Kwesi Johnson - Dread Beat An' Blood Lee "Scratch" Perry & The Upsetters - Super Ape
  20. I agree with Dan. This is unacceptable! This is baseball gad damn it, not hockey. Can't take the heckling? Give up you millions and go flip burgers at Jack in the Box, asshole.
