someone helped me find the reference: miles Autobiography (troupe), page 297 -- After we finished In a Silent Way, I took the band out on the road; Wayne, Dave, Chick, and Jack DeJohnette were now my working band. Man, I wish this band had been recorded live because it was really a bad motherfucker. l think Chick Corea and a few other people recorded some of our performances live. but Columbia missed out on the whole fucking thing. the part about herbie recording all the shows is from page 279 of the same book, and is in reference to the circa 1965 group. the Wayne, Dave, Chick, and Jack DeJohnette group was recorded a lot, including the 69 euro tour.so my wish for new live material from sony would be the keystone korner tapes.
-
he does. his tapes are the source for all various artists official keystone korner releases, as well as unofficial and unissued. my guess is that the miles estate doesn't want to pay what he is asking for them. it's much easier just to go to the sony and newport vaults. and to the european tv/radio stations, because evidently they don't ask for too much money. the public will buy whatever they release, so why jump through the hoops, and give up serious cash for new material. but that's just a theory.

in an interview in one of the miles books, miles said that they toured the u.s. after recording either bitches brew or silent way (i think it was bb). he said that columbia should have recorded that band. and in the same book, maybe in the same interview, he stated that hancock recorded all the concerts that he played on, and that's why you don't hear the piano at the beginning of the first tune, because hancock is setting up his recorder. that's the shit that i'd be clamoring for. and the keystone korner shows. he played there on at least 2 occasions: 1 week in 1974, and 3 days in 1975. those soundboards exist. edit: known miles engagments at the keystone korner February 12-17, 1974 April 16-21, 1974 January 14-16, 1975

thank you, that's all was saying. here is most of the recent berlin 73 video broadcast. i don't know why they didn't post the whole thing. and the complete old broadcast

the plosin discography lists the 1955 show being released on "Miles Davis" 2cd (Storyville STA 130467). regarding the 66/67, i don't collect this period of live miles, but a posting on the miles list says: The 1966 Bootleg Series Vol 4 has a slightly longer version of ‘R.J.’ but otherwise the sets look identical. another post: "1966-1967 - mono, but big improvement to what I had of these shows (incomplete and much worse quality)". but my guess is that he didn't have the wolfgang's vault versions. i could be wrong about the 66/67 sound qualities, but all the other years on the box have to be the same with some eq tweaking ('remastering').
-
previous availability, all originating from the same tapes that were used for this release: sony/columbia/storyville cd's wolfgang's vault radio broadcast dietikon show (there was a re-broadcast of this in 2004) video broadcast berlin show (there was a re-broadcast of this in the past several years) the one tune from 1975 is previously unissued, but is from the same stage recording as the widely circulating tapes of the complete 90minute show.

i was being a smart alec in my previous post, but when i'm deciding if i really want to see a movie that i'm not sure about, i try to find a positive review and a negative review of it, for balance. all the material being previously available is a valid criticism.

you're just easy to please.

i think they liked the previous volumes, so maybe they have a point.

the people on the miles list aren't at all happy with this release. none of it is new. one post called it a 'dog's dinner'. and the 1973 show should have been a dvd, because the audio is taken from the video, and the video is excellent quality.

https://www.facebook.com/711740515516519/videos/820194011337835/ it doesn't sound like mccoy tyner to me.

this is almost certainly an example of how faulty memory can be.

maybe this one http://www.plosin.com/milesahead/Sessions.aspx?s=710311 bottom of page, Constitution Hall, Washington (March 28) (1971)

maupin's statement seems confusing since the rejected takes are listed in lord. unless what maupin is saying is that they were destroyed or are missing. i asked belden about these a long time ago, and i don't think that he had them, so they may indeed be missing. but then how would belden have gotten all the new tracks for the 3cd reissue. i would think that all the reels would be stores in one location.

'soul tv', nyc 1-28-72 I remember Britt audio of this is on Fresh Sound Lee Morgan - We Remember You the rest of this video program (Angela and The Sidewinder) used to be on youtube
-
does lord list the rejected tunes from the lighthouse that are listed at http://www.jazzdisco.org/lee-morgan/discography/#700710
-
does maupin claim that all the lighthouse rejected takes listed at the link below no longer exist in the blue note vaults? http://www.jazzdisco.org/lee-morgan/discography/#700710

a must-have if you like late period morgan. it's an audience recording. the audience is a bit too loud, but the audience interaction with the morgan's solos, especially on willow weep for me, makes the music that much more exciting. and can't go wrong with 2 versions of ceora and a speedball.

the 1964 canadian film "le chat dans le sac" has clips of multiple unissued alternate takes of naima, village blues, and out of this world. none the takes are issued. the possible studio recording date is 6.24.64

i'd be curious to know what kind of headphones the victim preferred to use to block out the noise - for the 'Your favorite headphones' thread. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/67994-your-favorite-headphones/ my favorite part of the story is that the speaker in the hallway was being cooled by a fan.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-marianna-seachrist-stalking-arrest-20150709-story.html .... The victim, who lives below Seachrist on Bay Port Road, said she had to walk around her home with noise-canceling headphones on her ears to deal with the loud sounds. ... The system included three low-frequency speakers mounted to a board and placed on the floor in the living room, hallway and closet of the home. The speakers were facing downward towards the floor, and weighted down by dumbbells and cinder blocks. "The three speakers were daisy chained together and wired to the amplifier," the arrest warrant said. "One of the speakers in the hallway was being cooled by a running floor fan." Deputies also found a Blackberry tablet wired to an amplifier, which played a "workout mp3" on repeat. That produced a bass-clicking noise that vibrated the room, deputies said. "The amplifier was plugged into what appeared to be a remote internet device that can be operated remotely by smartphone to turn the system on and off from the power source," the arrest warrant said. ....

i want to say that on April 27 of that year duke was in nyc recording parts of the new orleans suite. and that here, he is unknowingly reviewing the same take, one with vocal and one without. Afrique "The second take features a duet between a reserved, probing tenor saxophonist and Ellington, who takes an arch, minimalist approach to the song. The third rendition features vocalese, big organ swells from Davis, and an abstract tenor saxophone solo."
