  3. the item on halfspeedjazz is this entry in losin 4 Segment (take 4) [Tune X] (C. Parker) 3:19 and whatever 'newly discovered' means in this case. there are other boxes that are now known to be incomplete. the coltrane complete impulse for example. even without all the items that were later given to impulse by the family and later issued (alternates of ballads, tunji session, sun ship session, etc), the alternate take of 'dusk dawn' should probably have been included in the box because it was discovered long before all the others above. i think 'complete' means that this is what the label wanted to release to us at the time. even the coltrane village vanguard box is not complete. the first india is missing the beginning, talk/setting up between tunes, and one long tune which can be found on the web has some foreign signal noise in spots, and balance problems.
  4. thanks for the planted story. we will follow blindly.
  5. all the questions were recently addressed in another thread, except for the 29988-4 Georgia on my mind on Queen disc Q-065. the only source for 4 takes seems to be schapp's 1995 discography in the back of one of the bio books. all other discographies list 3 takes, and one fake. i.e. http://www.jazzdisco.org/billie-holiday/discography/ it seems that Queen disc Q-065 has 2 identical takes listed as takes 3 and 4.
  6. aaj sucks in every single way. the whole site should be taken down.
  7. it's on spotify if you want to listen before buying.
  8. Yes, sounds a whole lot like Miles at times, and maybe that didn't help his career. And maybe sometimes, with certain leaders, it did help. Hint hint. i hope it's not that marsalis character.
  9. track 2 sure sounds like miles, but it's not him.
  10. Not jazz, nor a single track, but you could get four and a half hours of Bach and still have a penny leftover. http://www.amazon.com/Big-Summer-Box-Bach-Guild/dp/B008J7FEK2/ it's not bach.
  11. they're using google translate. it's working toward a scam, small steps at a time. here is one that seems too easy, from a couple of weeks ago http://patch.com/illinois/stcharles-il/woman-trades-wedding-engagement-rings-loses-20000-diamond-scam A woman is out $20,000 and no longer has her wedding or engagement rings after she became the victim of a diamond scam in St. Charles earlier this month, police said. The female victim was approached inside Jewel-Osco, 2073 Prairie St., at about 3 p.m. on June 1 by a male who identified himself as Oscar Lopez, according to a St. Charles Police Department press release. He explained that he found a diamond at a cleaning job where he is employed and needed a ride to Meijer. Another female overheard this conversation and stated she needed a ride to Meijer as well, according to the news release. The victim drove the two to Meijer where Lopez showed them five diamonds and three gold coins, police said. The unknown female said she would take the items into Meijer to be appraised by a friend. She returned to the vehicle and stated the largest diamond was valued at $10,000. She then re-entered Meijer where she claimed to have “sold” the diamond for that value. The victim then dropped off the other female across the street. The victim drove Lopez to her house where she paid him $20,000 for the remaining diamonds, and traded her wedding and engagement rings for a fifth diamond and coin. She later had the diamonds appraised and found they were worthless.
  12. interesting that he was plying Miles Runs the Voodoo Down and spanish key 1-2 months before recording them for the bitches brew album. july 1969 doesn't seem to have been a euro tour. just 2 days in antibes. edit: it's possible that he recorded early versions Miles Runs the Voodoo Down and spanish key in the studio in the spring/summer 1969.
  13. yes, she was wise beyond her years. here is an example, and there are others http://www.eonline.com/news/555538/bobbi-kristina-slams-angela-bassett-says-she-wanted-to-play-whitney-houston-in-lifetime-movie And you know Bobbi wasn't going to take well… The 21-year-old responded by tweeting, "Ha MsAng "bassketcase" has such a damn nerve my lord, at least the world doesn't mistake me for the wrong sex…she has some #XtraEquipment." She added, "When I win my first Grammy or Oscar, *Shrugs* hmm whichever comes 1st, I'll be sure 2shout URname out b-tch! Hah UrTestResults = Male. Lmao."
  14. https://www.facebook.com/711740515516519/videos/820194011337835/ it doesn't sound like mccoy tyner to me.
  15. this is almost certainly an example of how faulty memory can be.
  16. maybe this one http://www.plosin.com/milesahead/Sessions.aspx?s=710311 bottom of page, Constitution Hall, Washington (March 28) (1971)
  17. maupin's statement seems confusing since the rejected takes are listed in lord. unless what maupin is saying is that they were destroyed or are missing. i asked belden about these a long time ago, and i don't think that he had them, so they may indeed be missing. but then how would belden have gotten all the new tracks for the 3cd reissue. i would think that all the reels would be stores in one location.
  18. 'soul tv', nyc 1-28-72 I remember Britt audio of this is on Fresh Sound Lee Morgan - We Remember You the rest of this video program (Angela and The Sidewinder) used to be on youtube
  19. does lord list the rejected tunes from the lighthouse that are listed at http://www.jazzdisco.org/lee-morgan/discography/#700710
  20. does maupin claim that all the lighthouse rejected takes listed at the link below no longer exist in the blue note vaults? http://www.jazzdisco.org/lee-morgan/discography/#700710
  21. a must-have if you like late period morgan. it's an audience recording. the audience is a bit too loud, but the audience interaction with the morgan's solos, especially on willow weep for me, makes the music that much more exciting. and can't go wrong with 2 versions of ceora and a speedball.
  22. the 1964 canadian film "le chat dans le sac" has clips of multiple unissued alternate takes of naima, village blues, and out of this world. none the takes are issued. the possible studio recording date is 6.24.64
  23. i'd be curious to know what kind of headphones the victim preferred to use to block out the noise - for the 'Your favorite headphones' thread. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/67994-your-favorite-headphones/ my favorite part of the story is that the speaker in the hallway was being cooled by a fan.
  24. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-marianna-seachrist-stalking-arrest-20150709-story.html .... The victim, who lives below Seachrist on Bay Port Road, said she had to walk around her home with noise-canceling headphones on her ears to deal with the loud sounds. ... The system included three low-frequency speakers mounted to a board and placed on the floor in the living room, hallway and closet of the home. The speakers were facing downward towards the floor, and weighted down by dumbbells and cinder blocks. "The three speakers were daisy chained together and wired to the amplifier," the arrest warrant said. "One of the speakers in the hallway was being cooled by a running floor fan." Deputies also found a Blackberry tablet wired to an amplifier, which played a "workout mp3" on repeat. That produced a bass-clicking noise that vibrated the room, deputies said. "The amplifier was plugged into what appeared to be a remote internet device that can be operated remotely by smartphone to turn the system on and off from the power source," the arrest warrant said. ....
