  1. Earlier you said it's all subjective. That's why I find lists like this a waste of time. Is the list supposed to convince someone about what is "great"?? In all fairness, the list might be good for "newbies". If I did care, I'd care more about what Larry Kart, John Litweiler or Steve Reynolds think, than about a ranked list.
  2. Texas got Jeffress from the Brewers too. Wonder if Milwaukee (my old hometown) will ever be any good again.
  3. Evolution 2 is not a solo album, but still is very nice IMO.
  4. Evolution is in 2 volumes - but I'm sure you know that.
  5. Got it. Like it.
  6. The electric cane was strange. Lonnie also attempted to "sing" on a couple of songs. The one "rap" I could have lived without. Much of the music was fine, but I found some of it repetitious. There seemed to be some communication issues between the musicians a few times. The drummer provided yeoman service. Still would have liked more Stephens. All in all I preferred the Lloyd concert. Also heard Dave Holland's quartet earlier in the week & they played a continuous 90 minute set without any song identification. Everyone's playing was virtuosic although a little more tempo variation would have been welcome. 11th annual New Mexico Jazz Festival - thanks to Tom Guralnick for all he does for the jazz scene here.
  7. I thought Charles Lloyd was excellent. The Lonnie Smith concert was a little bizarre. I thought Dayna Stephens was underutilized.
  8. I like it too.
  9. Dr. Lonnie Smith's "Evolution"
  10. I'm watching this too - although I'm not sure what it all means. Then I watch Queen Of The South which I understand completely!!
  11. Sorry, but I don't read much of this stuff anymore (after 50+ years). I just listen to the music.
  12. Not sure what I'm missing, but I don't think Mr. Litweiler disagrees with you.
  13. The Night Of is excellent.
  14. That Braxton is really good IMO.
  15. I agree with you.
  16. There's an article about her in the current issue of New York Magazine. Sounds like a challenging book & a complex person.
  17. I go to Discount Tires. They measure the air pressure in each tire & add air if necessary. All free. No waiting. They don't ask if I've purchased my tires there or not.
  18. Queen Of The South - US version
