Didn't know who that is. Thanks, I think. Haven't listened yet, but checked on Google.

I'm favorably impressed also. Just listened today to Braxton: Quartet (Mestre) 2008 that he's a big part of. Also have an obscure Matana Roberts Qt. CD: The Calling (Utech 030) that he & Fujiwara are both on.
  5. Rollins: Wagon Wheels, I'm An Old Cowhand, many others.
  6. Jo Nesbo: The Leopard
  7. $20 is better than 199 pounds!!
  8. Let me know what you think. I honestly wasn't that taken with Oscar Wao (which the rest of the world seemed to love), so I don't think this is going to be my thing either. I really liked Oscar Wao, so I might not be your best source for an opinion. FWIW, I finished This Is How You Lose Her in one day (admittedly only 211 pages). I found it very compelling.

  10. I agree. Great album. Saw her live last week. She was in excellent voice & has a really good band.
  11. I saw a great Annie Liebovitz photo of Ella today in a gallery. I don't have a link.
  12. Last night's episodes of Treme, Boardwalk Empire & The Good Wife.
  13. G.B 28 - N.O. 27. Whew!! Not that the officiating was that good.
  14. "You cannot petition the lord with prayer". Forgot who said that.
  15. That's from the Blood & Candlesmoke CD. Russell's a pretty cool guy.
  16. Agree with all others - both - what a deal.
  17. Good album IMO - 4 MFs or whatever it's called.
  18. http://www.scienceagogo.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=38772 You decide.
  19. Well, they're not coming my way, but you convinced me anyway - I'm gonna check 'em out at the Blue Note in NYC on 6 Oct! It should be fun, Erik! Tonight, SFJazz: The Music of Thelonious Monk Listening Party with Larry Goldings Tomorrow: Wilco in Palm Desert Bring ear plugs for Wilco - seriously!!
  20. Bonnie Raitt Excellent!!
  21. I don't care what the NFL says - it was an interception, not a catch. Tate was nowhere near to a simultaneous catch. Plus he's an arrogant S.O.B. - when asked about the push off, he said "don't know what you're talking about". Pete Carroll has always been kind of an a-hole, so didn't expect anything sportsmanlike from him!! Steve Young & Trent Dilfer said they were sickened by the course of events.
