  1. Interesting. I'm sorry to hear that Kenny Clarke didn't think that the MJQ was "jazz" & that Milt Jackson "hated" John Lewis.
  2. My kids bought me one. I gave it to my wife. She loads (is that the right word?) everything. When I want to hear something she "finds" it for me. Pretty good deal.
  3. How are his novels? I have a copy of "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" but haven't read it yet. A friend also recommended "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" to me recently. They're both well worth your time. As I recall, Kavalier & Clay won the Pulitzer. Just started Barbara Kingsolver: Lacuna
  4. Had it on our DVR. Watched it last night, & agree it was great.
  5. That's the REAL cover. The other one with a photo of a guy with a trumpet is a jive-ass second-rate replacement. I actually agree with that.

    Anthony Braxton

I only have the Moscow (2008) CD which is very good.

    Roy DeCarava

The Sound I Saw is a great book. He also collaborated with Langston Hughes on The Sweet Flypaper Of Life.
  8. I see a reference to Disconforme in association with these at CD Universe. Comments???
  9. Ear X-Tacy I may have the incorrect spelling, but it's something like that.
  10. I usually like his playing. The Venus CDs are nice - both his leader dates & the One For All CDs.
  11. Excellent show. The "dreaded" vocoder was only used once.
  12. Among others Pee Wee Russell, Hampton Hawes, Art Pepper.
  13. No prize fight here. The writing was great.
