  1. Great choice & great price.
  2. I like Bernstein & Allen's Armstrong CD.
  3. McLean Redd Mobley
  4. Her segment in the Jazz On A Summer Afternoon film is excellent.
  5. Zadie Smith : On Beauty
  6. Both of the Loose Assembly CDs are excellent IMHO. I also suggest People Places & Things: Proliferation on 482. Mike Reed is the "leader" on all 3.
  7. I bought it too + the 2 new Mike Reed CDs on 482. First CDs I've purchased in months - since the economic meltdown.
  8. It seems to be on back order with all the usual suspects. A little hard to find, for some reason. I'd love to listen to that one. Appears to be in stock at CD Baby.
  9. Great CD. Irabagon recently won a saxophone contest which includes a recording deal with Concord. He'll scare the crap out of them. Might be fun. The group has a newer CD which is a "take" on Ornette's This Is Our Music. Haven't heard it, but I'd like to.
  10. MJQ version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. I know that's only one song, but it's the best I could come up with.
  11. I like it! /Shaft Another . Not essential Rouse or bossa nova for that matter, but very enjoyable. I agree.
  12. Late to the party, but I don't care for 27th Man. Stylings Of Silver - now that's a great album!! (IMHO)

    Blue Note

That's a nice list. Not meant to chastise, but a lot of those could have been purchased when the Mosaic boxes were in print. Maybe you weren't collecting then.
  14. Anybody heard Jamie Baum? I think she's pretty good. BTW, has James Newton recorded anything recently???
  15. I'm not a big Ramsey Lewis fan either, but I have a Japanese mini-CD reissue of this album & enjoy it a lot. YMMV.
  16. He's excellent on a fine Dave Douglas Quartet CD (DIW 934) called Moving Portraits (which may be OOP). Rest of group is James Genus & Billy Hart.

    Ray Crawford

Buy the Curtis Amy Mosaic Select & you'll get Katanga(& a lot of other fine music).
  18. I saw this "show" live fairly recently & hated it. Repetitious, "altered" sax sounds - just total crap IMHO.
  19. Kent Meyers: The Work Of Wolves
  20. AFAIK the publishers are already sending out review copies. F "Already" - it's only been in the works since 2002. When can us peons get a copy??? So? Stanley Crouch started working on his Bird bio in 1981. :rsmile: F True enough, but a publication date has never been announced for the Bird. On the other hand, the publication date of the Twardzik book has been announced over & over.
  21. Wise guy - I guess.
