  1. You haven't seen Before The Devil Knows Your Dead????
  2. She was excellent in Moonstruck (IMO). Musically never did much for me.
  3. First episode of Wallander online at pbs.org
  4. Not particularly good, to tell the truth. One of the very few Milestones that don't have at least one killer cut on it. Just my opinion, and as I remember it. I liked the credenza at the end of the album and "McGhee", to me these are the highlights of this session. I thought a credenza was a piece of furniture. Cadenza maybe??
  5. I'm not a big fan, but I think "new age" is unfair.
  6. Hadley Caliman, Julian Priester, Larry Vuckovich, John Heard, Eddie Marshall
  7. Not too skinny.
  8. Carlos Ruiz Zafon: Shadow Of The Wind
  9. It was O.K.. Didn't quite resonate with me the way I thought it would. I'm a big Downey fan, Foxx not so much.
  10. Brewers beat Pirates today 1-0. Gallardo pitched a 2 hitter for 8 innings & won the game by hitting a solo home run.
  11. Grant Stewart: Young At Heart (50% of at Borders, they had 1 copy)

    Wallace Roney

I think "imitator" is unfair - but influenced for sure.
  13. I thought this collection definitely had its moments, but felt that her novel The Namesake was almost a quantum leap above this in terms of the themes and characters. So if you like Interpreter, you will definitely like The Namesake. She has a new novel, which I haven't gotten yet, but will get around to fairly soon. I'm going "backwards". Already read her new collection of stories, Unaccustomed Earth (excellent BTW), & The Namesake. Since Interpreter Of Maladies won the Pulitzer, I thought I should read it too. I'm through the 1st 3 stories - so far, so good. Saw her recently in person do a reading & an interview. A class act for sure.
  14. Jhumpa Lahiri: Interpreter Of Maladies
  15. I have this Japanese mini-LP format (MYCJ 30104) of the original that was on Time. IMO it's excellent. 12 cuts (4 alternates), notes by Nat Hentoff. Recorded Jan. 1959.
  16. Snow last Friday, gone in 12 hours. 75 & sunny today.
  17. Braxton Mosaic
  18. It's fine.
  19. C.J. Box: Free Fire
  20. There are more recent CDs (some of which are Japanese only) on Eighty-Eights that are excellent albeit somewhat pricey.
  21. Listened to Congeniality from this album this a.m.. Blew me away as always.
