I'm pretty much with Rooster. When I want to hear Monk, I want to hear him played by Monk. Doesn't sound quite right to me without his unique presence, with the exception of Eric Dolphy's "Epistrophy" from 'Last Date' (and Dolphy was also a unique presence, both he and Monk were not like the other kids). Strictly subjective, no objective value judgments intended. I know something like Waldron/Lacy playing Monk is probably technically superior to Monk himself, but it's tangibly different for me.

Can't throw enough superlatives at this. Utterly spectacular, and the pinnacle of her fascinating (though admittedly somewhat uneven) career. Also possibly my favorite recording of the decade, all genres included.

Excellent and fascinating, can't put it down, and I'm not even to Butterfield/Love/Doors etc. yet. Label actually started in 1950 (when Holzman was 19) as a folk and eclectic label. Also tells a lot about the recording industry as it morphed over time, and about America. Told in first person by Holzman and others. Holzman is a really interesting guy, and seems to have a lot of integrity along with the obvious vision and ambition (which he does not seek to disguise).

Also "Before The Flood". I was reading a Greil Marcus book on Dylan last night which indicated that Asylum did no publicity for "Before the Flood" at all.

I have been almost totally housebound through the current time, and am not keen on the idea of going to the post office, but I have three CD's I need to mail to another board member. I have internet, printer, etc. and have a scale, but do not have and have not used labels. Does anyone have suggestion on how I can use online postage to mail this small package, without paying for something like a monthly stamps.com subscription, something where I can print the postage on regular paper and tape or glue it to my package? I don't want to just stick stamps on the package because I really want a tracking number. May seem like a stupid question, but it's all new to me, thanks.
