  1. Understood, LOL, thanks! I paid for a download from Amazon, $4.98. Hate doing that, but made an exception for this great album.
  2. 'Asha' and 'Washington Suite' are the two you want, and they are fabulous. 'Asha' is a desert island disc for me. 'Tanner Suite' isn't really jazz, more classical-minded.
  3. Yes, his rhythm section from that period was the great Eric Gravatt, Novosel, and a pianist named Gene Rush, who fit his conception beautifully. Not familiar with Rush apart from those early McNeill records.
  4. I still remember hearing "Meeting of the Spirits" for the first time during my freshman year of college, stunning. Saw them at the Spectrum in Philly in 1973, where they blew Zappa's incredibly talented MOI group (Duke, Ponty, Ruth Underwood, etc.) off the stage. Opening act IIRC was John Hammond Jr. playing solo acoustic guitar.
  5. I've had a lot of great discussions and several excellent win/win trades with Gary. A++ standup guy.
  6. 1975/1978/1979 . Asha and Washington Suite were 1969/1970. These were his next three albums. https://www.discogs.com/artist/309008-Lloyd-McNeill
  7. I have several hundred vinyl LP's that no longer have use to me (mainly replaced by CD). I have never really sold vinyl, so cannot quickly grade and price all of them. I am going to list out the Blue Notes and some of the other desirable labels, and if you have interest, please IM me, and we most likely should be able to work something out, either likely a sale or possibly a trade for CD's. I will describe condition when you contact me, All were good enough that they were in my collection, though most were purchased used. I am motivated to move these out, so will not be tough on pricing, though I want the exchange to be fair. Thanks. 10. FS/FT, three rare and beautiful Lloyd McNeill LP's, "Treasures", "Tori", "Elegia". PM if interested.
  11. Different strokes for different folks - I love those piano-less sessions, and think what the bass players do on them are marvelous. I admit they sound very different than the sessions with Corea or Hammer.

    Bob Dylan corner

    Yes, I pre-ordered from Amazon UK and it came out to under $70 shipped for the set. Delighted by that.
  15. Highly recommend that MJQ set. It is my usual go-to set by them when I want to hear them.

    Herbie Mann

    I just ordered this for under $13 shipped on ebay. Most efficient way to get the "Hold On" album (which I've never heard). Also haven't really heard the Muscle Shoals album.
  17. Maybe Francis Wolff was selective in what he was willing to shoot?
  18. Any thoughts on what to expect this to sound like? Obviously won't be a return to the Black Jazz days.
  19. "Merry-Go-Round" escaped you because it never has been domestically released on CD except for the Mosaic box, was on Japanese CD for about five minutes a decade ago. You'll be happy with all three;

    Billy Harper

    Dex was not originally scheduled for the show I went to, it was the Roach and Hutcherson groups. Dex had just come back to America, and was a late, impromptu add-on, using Hutcherson's rhythm section and, I believe, Henderson. So I'm thinking it was very late 1976 maybe.
