  1. Hey, he's a rookie - nobody told him he couldn't do it that way!
  2. You've heard the later re-edit/remixes? In any case powerful, if slightly weird.
  3. It is indeed lovely, I also watched some more clips of Bobby Fuller, can anyone recommend a good compilation? Love how you froze the clip at the exact moment the closest dancer flips her skirt up!
  4. Could it have been the Clovers? time period is right and sounds like something they might've done...they di do"Boo diddy boo dah do day"
  5. Ray Price's Cherokee Cowboys Western Strings, $2.99 at Goodwill, nice 'n clean!
  6. I felt that way when I saw Charlie Rich Sings Hank Williams the other day - just grabbed it up no hesitation.
  7. Watching Night Music clips, mostly whole shows, amazingly good - no wonder I was willing to lose sleep to see them back in the day.
  8. It's great that this lovely music is going to be heard by even more people now, but I'd rather not do business with Amazon and fortunately I have most of this. The Plugged Nickel is one of the most live 'live' things there is, proof that Miles was (as usual) totally right when he said that 'when they leave the mistakes in, that's when you've got real jazzz/music'...
  9. Hey, Led Zep always did go for the big gestures, and Plant's got other fish to fry so good for him. Especially if he's already said so in private and was put on the spot being handed the contract in public, did they not sound him out first?
  10. what are the bonus tracks, I have the LP
  11. After Hours - I love that, played by anyone 'cause they all at least start it off the same.
  12. Still listening to this on a regular basis and still digging it muchly, can't remember the last time that happened with something even more or less new...
  13. I's like to meet this young lady, obviously, and converse with her about records for a few, but I don't know that I'd really want to know her. Not that either scenario has even half a chance of actually happening. Kind of obsessive, and she needs to eat more, but more than kinda interesting.
  14. Both Lou and Lee Konitz are scheduled to play the 2015 Portland Jazz Fest, but not on the same show (Battle of the Alto Octogenarians!) that would be tempting fate too much. Perversely perhaps, but I'd love to hear them together.
  15. i put up a little display in the library in which I work with some of our books and CDs and a parts horn belonging to me.
  16. Fine musician to be sure, but that Pop Goes the Weasel quote just grates every time I hear it, and I'm OK with quotes generally, so go figure...
  17. BB&Q for $1.99 is a heck of a deal, Hal O also wrote at least one more set of arrangements for Monk, right?
  18. Is that a Morgan he's driving?
  19. Haven't heard these guys, but I'm intregued, partly because there have been a number of similar things done with various styles/periods of rock/R&B - e.g., 'Godfrey Daniels' who did a version of "Proud Mary" which started "old" and ended "real old". Haven't there been several jazz projects More or less along these lines recently?
  20. Sounds like The Intro & the Outro by the Bonzo Dog DooDah Band...
  21. If they did make some $ and hired session guys to play for them, it would be Mostly Other People Do the Playing
  22. "my MGB-GT, she's a runner now" he should a full album of car 'n bike songs!
  23. looks like an alto to me...
