  1. Happy Prez Day!
  2. BTW: Jazzcorner keeps this "no mention of other jazz boards" policy from long ago. When I first post there, months ago, in a thread called something like "First, stop here and say hello", I innocently mentioned AAJ and organissimo with something like "...I post frequently at AAJ and organissimo and I hope I will have time to post here...". Well, without any warning, my post was completely touched up, deleting the sentence quoted above. I remember I got very angry with that, replying again in that thread... this reply was deleted as well. I received a PM from the administrator (which I didn´t notice till a couple of weeks past) explaining their policy. I haven´t practically posted there since. Hope this won´t happen with AAJ.
  3. Ah, up to 109 Ellington discs and counting! Ooops, one can´t have a secret!
  4. Couldn´t agree more, Matthew! I can´t find many threads of interest there lately. I keep on posting there basically for the All Birthdays Thread (which is really funny) and for some members´ posts (peter rh, clifton and a few more). BTW, I´d like to know what clifton (who is also an administrator at AAJ and registered here at organissimo and posted during a couple of weeks) thinks about this matter. He´s a thoughtful guy and I really appreciate his input. Maybe I´ll send him a PM. All I can say is that THIS IS MY HOME NOW... as AAJ used to be...
  5. I pre-ordered "Masterpieces" and "Festival session" from cduniverse.com a few days ago for $8.39 each. I´ll keep my old reissue of "Uptown" for now.
  6. Jim, will I be banned for this thread? It mentions not one BUT TWO other jazz boards?
  7. Bad news for the cyberspace jazz community! I didn´t expect this from Mike
  8. I must admit, Bechet sounds good on the instrument. Damned good! As impressive as on clarinet, IMHO
  9. Tadd was a chick? That´s a mistake you make when English is not your first language, you didn´t study it as much as you should have, you´re posting from work, and your boss is around.... B) so your boss is a chick then? Sadly, he´s a fat, greasy bearded man. No sex-appeal at all!
  10. Updated statistics as of February 13, 2004 01.10 PM GMT+1 - Central Europe hour Members: AAJ 1901; Jazzcorner 1277; Organissimo 627 Posts: Jazzcorner 125.802; Organissimo 112.369; AAJ 40.191 Threads: Organissimo 6791; Jazzcorner 4230; AAJ 3046 Most users ever on-line: AAJ 88; Jazzcorner 77; Organissimo 75 (this stats are clearly influenced by AAJ hackers attack that meant all posts from mid-May to mid-September were lost... though some were re-posted by some of us) Well, unquestionably, ORGANISSIMO is doing well!!!
  11. ...Duke Ellington!
  12. I´m pretty sure I will finally pick it, Lon. I´m not the "total Bird freak", but of course I´m very fond of him! I have about 20 CDs (the Savoy and Dial masters, his JATP performances, a few concerts and broadcasts, some of his Verve material...). Maybe there are more important gaps in my Bird collection (any advice will be very appreciated), but I´ll purchase the Mosaic anyway!
  13. And once you´ve bought a few dozens... is it worth yet?
  14. Tadd was a chick? That´s a mistake you make when English is not your first language, you didn´t study it as much as you should have, you´re posting from work, and your boss is around.... B)
  15. Thanks for you input, guys ... still in doubt about purchasing it
  16. EKE BBB

    Chick Webb

BTW you can download a ram file with a solo of Chick Webb doing "Liza"
  17. EKE BBB

    Chick Webb

You can find some more good Chick Webb picks at DRUMMERWORLD.COM besides HUNDREDS OF GREAT PICTURES OF DRUMMERS. It´s a very interesting and useful site... even for us non-drummers
  18. Couldn´t vote for any of them. They´re all great!
  19. Agreeing with many of the objections stated... my vote goes for Tadd Dameron (I love her compositions)
  20. I´ve been wondering many times if I should buy this box. I know it includes some of the best solos ever played but, the facts that -it only includes Bird´s solos and no complete tracks, and -that sound´s expected to be quite poor, have made me contain myself from buying this 7 CD box. Your advice??? Thanks in advance!
  21. A few Selects and MAYBE the Charlie Parker Bennedetti set.
