  1. Geez, DG corporate brass, could you find an uglier picture to slap on a box set? Fricsay, long dead, should be pissed:
  2. I have always a fondness for modern American classical music. Sessions, Ruggles, Fine, Carter, Crumb, etc.
  3. Just doesn't exist. You either have to find a local audiophile store or tough it out online. Audio Advisor is a good site to at least get a feel for what is out there, that is above chain store grade.
  4. I'm looking for a discography for this series, if one exists. The web gives me very little info. Or, anything from Music From Our Time Series. An example: or
  5. Alfred Brendel box for 30 euros! Sold out......
  6. Not tempted. Not a Horowitz fan. Will plunge for Ansermet Russian box.

  8. The Swans - To Be Kind

  10. Italy was the one that surprised me. I had two box sets ready to order, but held off for one week (had it in the cart at the last week of April, had planned to order this week). The shipping doubled. Basically, it would be paying for a third box set.

  12. The bargains may be over, when price comparing with amazon Spain, Italy and Germany. I'm seeing shipping costs starting at 14 euros for a box set.
  13. I'm noticing that amazon.it shipping prices have doubled, when it comes to box sets.
  14. The Budapest set is excellent. Hopefully Sony will do a mega box of their recordings. And Julliard, etc.
  15. Is good. Very very good. Don't be put off by the sound quality.
  16. If I only had three to choose, it would be these: Charles Mingus - Black Saint and Sinner Lady Elvin Jones - Puttin it Together Wayne Shorter - ESP
  17. Boogaloo is outstanding.
  18. A good amount. Those Shearing Latin records were fun listening.
  19. http://www.discogs.com/artist/55745-Freddie-Hubbard High Blues Pressure, Backlash and Hub of Hubbard are very nice.
  20. All were issued on cd, as Collectors' Choice or Connoisseurs. I think Poppin was issued as RVG, as well as Matador, but I could be wrong.
  21. Is this what is keeping the record industry afloat? At £90 a set even £50 Man will have to save up here. There's tons of this stuff: http://www.spincds.com/box-sets Yes, they are tapping the oil well that is the Steve Hoffman forum group.
