  1. I guess he is obscure...I never heard of him. He looked a bit like Bill Evans.
  2. Must be your personality...
  3. Who's he?
  4. Tom, I assume you have the Sky Piece already? Night Bird Song is another excellent Chapin-Pavone disc.
  5. PLEASE PLEASE, I really need to get the following disc- Miyako Koda - Jupiter Japanese way is to have the last name first - in this case it's Koda Miyako. I would really!!! appreciate if your friend could get it. It's not jazz, btw, it's vocal trip-hop-space music kinda thing.
  6. I was at Aaron's last Sunday, along with a good friend and fellow board member Cali. All I can say is I scored BIG on used cds. All titles are 40 to 60% off. I must have bought about 30 single cds as well as the Complete Billie Holiday on Verve and Complete Lester on Verve. They're closing doors some time in February. btw.
  7. Well, yesterday night I dropped by the library to borrow some movies and noticed that some of the dvds I had donated were in circulation. Next time I'm there I'll check if they put out the cds as well.
  8. I listened to the Five O'Clock Bells/Mo' Breau cd yesterday all night. My first taste of Breau. All I can say is - where was I all these years?! The man was a genius!
  9. A snippet of random day dreaming - Imagine what a duet album of Bill Evans and Lenny Breau would be like ! ! !
  10. The ad says "...Interesting trades considered." Do you think the seller might agree to swap for Anthony Quinn's undershirt?
  11. An indispensable set for piano trio fans, imo. I have the Japanese 3-cd set in Digital k2 remastering. Pure bliss 2 hours long.
  12. Naturally.
  13. Do you think Evans was the most recorded pianist in jazz history?
  14. I passed by this album countless times while browsing the used bins. Bad mistake. Better late than never......
  15. The box is next on my list.
  16. I'm learning to use personal spending restraint. Had a choice between this box set and this book. Chose the book.
  17. How's this for rare? It's from my little collection.
  18. Lon, I think the DIW version was a shortened 2-cd set, unless it came out in 2 vols. How stupid I was not to buy this Dragon when I saw a bunch of them at the NYC Tower.
  19. Mazl Tov! Going national, Jim. About @#$ing time! That is terrific! :tup
  20. I'm in the process of building my listening room/music library. It's about 25x12, and the Klipschorns should sound pretty sweet when we're done.
  21. Call me impatient, but I didn;t have the stamina to read through 40+ pages of this thread to have my question answered [which I'm sure it is somewhere in the bowels of this monster thread] -- what's the story on the packaging? For instance, I'm eyeing The Complete Norman Granz Jam Sessions box. Does it come in the "normal" or "BMG-altered" packaging? What about the rest of the cds? BMG logo or "normal"?
  22. Any leads? Thank you in advance.
  23. You mean in RI? 'tis dry pickins round here, as you know; just one or two used cd joints that fail to excite and the local chain Strawberries. Haven't checked out the used cd scene in Providence yet, just went to one vinyl joint on Wickenden St, Round Again Records. Not bad. Made it home ok. No adventures. Brought this baby up to 110 mph a couple of times, but won't attempt that again till the tune up and the valve adjustment are done. I think I can add ~30 hp once I put in the Conforti chip, to bring it up to about 280 hp. The sound of that throttle opening up at about 100 mph is better than [some] sex!
  24. I wish I had an extra 35k... The winning bidder would've been yours truly. Check this out while the link is still active. A unique object of Jazz History on eBay.
