The last printed issue of All About Jazz paper has an interview with Sunny Murray. Some of it is about Ayler [and Cecil Taylor]. Can't vouch for Murray's veracity, but he's a colorful subject to interview, for sure. As we say in Russian, "He doesn't need to look for words in his pockets".

What was the last recorded session Harden took part in? Anyone has any info on Harden's whereabouts and life prior to disappearance, in addition to Keepnews' written effort?

I pm'ed someone when the system was on the fritz, but it probably didn't go through. That person has never received the PM. Actually I'm waiting from King Ubu to respond. Europeans take a while to shake up. I say if he doesn't get through by this afternoon, it's a land-rush.

I LOVE IT! All of it. Been playing non-stop for a couple of days. The sound on these Japanese cds is stunningly good. Can't believe the music was recorded 50 years ago, it sounds so good. What a beautiful collection of tunes!

We all would've killed to hear that band. The rest is somehow...less important.

As luck would have it I got the Japanese 2cd set. Question - should there be a booklet inside the cd case? Mine just has the front and back tray cards. Uncommon for the Japanese cds not to have booklet, or at least a printed page.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and never bothered, because I thought it was a compilation culled from the VE cds.

I've been listening to Indian music on a great 3-lp set my friend gave to me for the past coupla days, but Harden was in heavy rotation prior this week. --- Aside from Coltrane's work with Miles these are my favorite Coltrane's recordings with a trumpet player. They are on the same level here, Harden and Coltrane, playing like equal partners. The rest of the guys play equally well. Of course, reading the short life story of Harden is a sad microcosm in itself. Just to bitch - In addition to somewhat muddy sound the alternate takes following the issued takes and not in the end is kind of annoying. That's where the program button comes in play. My favorite cut - Once In a While !

The writing looked Portugese to me. Something about winning.

I used to pass by the BL every day when I was a student at NYU and now still when I walk by it I look at the bill-board to see who's playing. Last gig I saw there was the Fairport Convention. It has no replacement..
