  1. He also tore up the jacket of a Sinead O'Connor LP.
  2. This Friday's Lew Tabackin Trio at the Side Door, the show I was really looking forward to...rescheduled for who knows when.
  3. Ronnie Spector is dead, 78. Just a week shy of a year's anniversary of her ex-husband's death. Strange. https://nypost.com/2022/01/12/ronnie-spector-rock-icon-behind-be-my-baby-dead-at-78/
  4. You know the vinyl craze is ON when you see the Pope coming out of a record store hiding a Love Supreme original pressing that he just paid an ungodly sum for. https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2022/01/12/pope-francis-record-store-242181?fbclid=IwAR1WPCx4QrClZSCqicN0U4SVTbLREvGfELm8i4qL-GEJMO3aYLdMt5GbBPs
  5. I'd like to watch the Schwing, but I can only find the Italian language dub. https://www.facebook.com/argonautadellamusica1/videos/872842699891741
  6. Found it in the "World Music' section. You never know what you'll see in the "World Music" stack, in any record store...unless you're in, say, Mogadishu. I wonder what they put in the World Music section there... Yeah, it was a very clean japanese King pressing. I had to have it. $4.
  7. He had a family?! He is thought of as a bachelor when he's remembered...
  8. That is indeed an excellent find!!! I had quiet fun in the local well-curated little record store, run by a couple of young guys with good taste. An hour's worth of kneeling and bending produced this little grouping.
  9. I can do the clean-up and transfer, if you still need it.
  10. I suggest you print the eBay page for the lot you won, and store with the record; also save the screenshot of it. It's iron-proof provenance. eBay doesn't keep these pages up for more than three months. They used to keep all their completed auction pages available for years, but stopped doing that about 5 years ago, which was a big disappointment for me.
  11. There are no more record shops in Vienna?
  12. It takes a strong man to go through what you have. And it takes an even stronger woman to be by your side. Hoping for a good recovery, and will come down to NYC to hear you play!
  13. Why didn't you ask him? Just played Side 1. Very high quality original Danish pressing. 1970s lightweight vinyl, without a single pop/crackle!
  14. Thanks for the link! While biographical material the author put together was very informative, I didn't really enjoy wading through the shovelfuls of adjectives that Grundy throws on an innocent reader when describing what music sounds like. Questions that still remain for me: Did Alan Shorter suffer from increasingly aggressive mental illness, or not? Where was he for the last fifteen years of his life as an artist? It doesn’t appear that he was performing at all, which brings the question whether his brother Wayne was supporting him financially, or he had a day job? What was his degree in from NYU, my alma mater?
  15. Madness. It's hard to believe someone is stupid enough and at the same time wealthy enough to pay 30x more than they would've otherwise, had it not been signed by Wayne. Who is still living, may he live as long as he wished!
  16. Wait, the White B went for $385?! DMM for almost $800?! Got it. Thanks! I wasn't reading attentively and missed the "late Lew Keck" part.
  17. Klemmer ,John – Nexus For Duo and Trio (2 LP) promo cutout $4 A magnificent, overlooked album. Only half of it was reissued on cd.
  18. Out of my wife's 8 positive relatives, 4 were vaccinated, 4 weren't.
  19. Eight[!!!] members of my wife's family tested positive after the New Year's party.
  20. The most memorable night I had at the Knit was in 2002 - Dr. Art Davis Dick Griffin James Carter Dave Burrell Cecil Brooks Candido (!!!!) It was an amazing night! They played a 30 minute long version of Africa, and Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze.
