What else is there to do, but break down completely, and stop functioning, like any other living creature? I bet Shatner makes death jokes every single day.

Bet you didn't know this about the Disco Sucks Era
Dmitry replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
What a dilemma for a mid-1970s young adult! Where do I go tonight to obtain illicit narcotics, ingest them with a female I’ve never seen before, and will not see again after we do it in the back of my whale of a car? Do I go here- …Or will I go down to an East Village basement and listen to atonal music in the company of nine bearded guys and two women, all of whom look like Trotsky. -

I thought you'd understand, but, sure, I'll elaborate. Disco was about having fun and getting laid. Cerebral folks don't usually have fun dancing in crowds, drinking, doing drugs, followed by having sex. -

Easy answer: the Disco crowd got laid, the leftist critics and the Strata-East telephone booth didn't. Still doesn't. No wonder they hated it. Not just on social and historical issues. They even mange to fuck up science reporting these days. It's all about the agenda. -

COVID-19 III: No Politics For Thee
Dmitry replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Doubtful every adult chooses to get the tetanus booster, when asked. It's not mandated by any government body, to my knowledge, unless, maybe one is in the armed services... It's been around since the 1920s, so most of the first world population alive today would've gotten it when they were kids. -
That's because you aren't hipp.

COVID-19 III: No Politics For Thee
Dmitry replied to ghost of miles's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I'm not disagreeing with you. Vaccine definitely helps.I've got all of my Covid shots, after having a lengthy Covid pneumonia and other related crap. And all three shots put me down like nothing else. If the fourth shot comes around, I'm not sure I will take it. It's just too taxing on my body. This comic strip is not hitting the mark with me. Most of these vaccines are given to little children, and parents make the decision whether to have them administered [why not...that's another story]. Had they waited till adulthood, those who refuse the COVID vaccine, would ostensibly refuse the other ones as well. -

Not fair. I don't even want to put any stress on the Flu... A person can still get COVID and even die after the vaccine. It happens every day. When was the last time someone got Polio and Measles after being vaccinated? -
I have two of her watercolors. One is an upstate New York scene, and the one that I like a lot more, is a larger scene of Central Park and the old skating rink. Will post photos of them if I come around to it. If memory isn’t playing tricks, I think she was recently lauded in Germany in a revival of her persona, art including. I think she was selling these watercolors on the streets of Manhattan in her final decades.

I didn’t know Lou was still with us. Wish him many more! Do you remember a story on the BLUE NOTE Board when Aric Effron and his buddy called him and he told them he was eating a sammich? I was at the performances of the still living nonagenarian Tony Bennett; Randy Weston, Jimmy Heath and Lee Konitz, shortly before they died. Helen Merrill is 91.

The sound is fantastic on this 1991 cd, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab UDCD 547 . The remastering engineer did a tremendous job; the overall sonic signature of the LP mix was retained, the cd sounds better than my early 1970s black B lp; the cd is more precise, more detailed than the 1973 reissue, but at the same time the LP does have a very pleasant, juicy Blue Note sound, and both Coltrane and Morgan sound great on the wax. There are no remastering credits for the CD. Do you know who worked on this reissue?

Thanks for the link, just read it. Author seems to be enamored by his own prose. Alas he's no Evelin Waugh. Still, the glaring inconsistencies sprinkled across the text are too hard to resist pointing out. For instance: Now it has emerged that even with his entire wage off the books, Barcelona would still have been unable to register him under La Liga rules. The real lesson of Messi’s departure is of the ultimate powerlessness of the elite footballer in the jaws of unregulated capitalism, a reminder that even the very greatest are not immune to the game’s more malign and rapacious forces. How can La Liga have rules, if it's unregulated? More often this struggle is fought and lost on a smaller scale: the armies of talented young players wasting their best years on the rosters of big clubs, dispatched on loan at the flick of a pen, stockpiled and mothballed like a bag of alfalfa in a warehouse. Mothballed...alfalfa?! The author is full of it [alfalfa by-product excreted by cows]. ----------------- Messi's net worth is estimated to be about half a billion dollars. The near-billionaire calls a press conference, cries in front of the whole world. He could've bought the club... His Barca salary for this year was 71 million euros....and he cried. He is, by far, the best footballer I've seen in my adult life. I was too young to realize how great Diego was. The absolute most bizarre aspect of this travesty for me is that his teammate will be fucking Ramos...you just couldn't make this stuff up.
