Another new thing I just found out for myself: can't have two computers with iTunes synced to the iTunes on iPhone, with different cd libraries on each. Everything must match to one iTunes library. I have a pc at home, and one at work, so I have to make one of them my main iTunes pc, from which I import music into the iTunes on my iPhone, otherwise I can't synchronize. Also, must have iTunes installed on a pc in order for the iPhone to be recognized as a storage device. Also, for some reason couldn't drop photos from the desktop of my pc into the photo folder on my iPhone. Unless I'm misunderstanding this.

Cherrypicking? No, just giving examples of the free and independent media carrying water for whatever clients they have, and whatever issue they want to propagate at the moment. Going back to the NYT - their star reporter Walter Duranty in his Pulitzer-winning series of articles from the Motherland, had influenced FDR to open relations with the USSR, and further enable Stalin's murderous regime. You yourself alluded to their pre-Iraq war coverage. I'll remind everyone - another NYT star reporter Judith Miller [along with Duranty a member of the Pulitzer club], cobbled together material that was taken for granted as evidence of Iraq having WMDs. Results are felt to this day. The paper of record... Sure, who is Greg Osby, and why would such an esteemed paper of record as the Boston GLobe be interested in rolling over such an insignificant human? Maybe that is precisely the reason: he is a nobody to them, nothing but a side-note to a bigger story. -

Why would the Atlanta Journal Constitution, New York Post, CNN and others fabricate stories about Richard Jewell? Why would the Rolling Stone concoct the UVa fraternity rape story? The Duke Lacrosse case? Media was all over that. Why they do it? Because they only dream of ratings and copies sold? Because in this country the libel laws are much more lax than elsewhere? Hell if I knew, but the combination of these two is a powerful stimulant. -

Is this the same old-school journalism stalwart NYT that sent Walter Duranty to cover collectivization in the Soviet Union? He got a Pulitzer for not only not reporting, but denying that 5 million people were dying there of starvation. That NYT? They even have a mea culpa page about that on their website 85 years later. Just sayin'... So BG informs the reader that they conducted an hour-long interview with GO, and then print just 2 self-implicating sentences from it. You do realize that they may have WILLINGLY AND EAGERLY fucked up this guy's career for the rest of his life?! -
The thought had crossed my mind... But the scarf is just a too monochromatic for my lady. BTW, you were spot on. Varvatos' scarves sell for $75-$90.

I trust what Osby says more than an a member of the second oldest profession who wrote the BG pliece. Unless proven otherwise. Would you believe that it was Osby's Mindgames playing in the Moscow hotel room when a couple of Russian hookers were peeing on the bed in which the then president had slept? -

You are gonna love it. I've played my copy 7 or 8 times already. This rendition of the Return to Forever sounds just as fresh as the original did in 1971. Corea's use of a male vocalist hits the mark, and the sound spectrum of contemporary keyboards on all the tracks really took it home for me. It's definitely not album for the jazz purists. I've also been listening to his VIGIL album. It's amazing how much a different drummer can bring into the band.

From the article: Osby, in an hourlong interview with the Globe, disputed the woman’s claims. Then they proceed to quote about two sentences of his. If they conducted an hour-long interview, they better print it. I'm of the opinion that in this country you are still innocent, unless PROVEN guilty. -
Actually, if I got this set from my wife as a Christmas or b-day present, I would've been like WOW. But I won't... Whatcha got for fishing jazz tunes? And don't bring up Kurt Weil!

What's a thread without Jim posting a comic strip, photo, or other visual aid?! That's right, it's just a thread.

When he wasn't whirling, he was waving album covers at the stage. I'm assuming they were Mahavishnu records, but who knows. I'm just glad he wasn't directly in front of me. -

Awesome show yesterday, scripted just as Ed had described. This was the longest set of music I've ever paid for - well north of 3 hours. I ended up buying the concert poster for the Cranston/Boston shows. Very psychedelic. They produce a poster for every two gigs, and they are all different. I think they print 100 copies of each, each hand-numbered.. You guys, whoever had tickets for their upcoming shows, are in for a real treat. The only thing I found axcessive is Jimmy Herring's drummer playing every single piece of hardware he has, and ending every song with beating on a big effin gong. BTW, based on my eyewitness account, this is what an average attendee of yesterday's concert looks like. One dude yesterday took it one step further. Imagine the guy in the photo below taking his cloths off and doing the whirling dervish dance for a couple of hours. Yes, I got it on film. -

If an 18 y.o. Is getting a gallon-sized box of Weather Report, they are not average anything. Unless the gift giver is making a statement... -

Teenagers don’t listen to albums, they play individual songs. Who the hell gives a 15 cd set of any one thing to a 18 y.o.?! if it comes to that decision, just buy an iTunes or amazon gift card. -

You can’t think this was the right thing, as opposed to exposing a teenager to a world beyond those two? Disagree? -

A developing mind needs to hear a variety of musical styles and artists to form a personality, not 15 cds of the music by the same band. -

Ed, so many thanks for the concert review! I’ve got my ticket for this Sunday’s concert here in lil Rhody, had it for weeks now. Show is sold out. Reading you makes me very excited!!! This is billed as McLaughlin’s farewell tour. I’m not familiar with the other guy. What do you recommend to get myself warmed up to his music?
