I have Sonny Stitt's "Move on over"/"DJ Lounge" on the same label and it sounds OK to me (not that that's very much to go on for a hifi fanatic, of course ) MG -

(Advertisement) The squirrel first ran into a house in the southern town of Passau, leapt from behind on a 70-year-old woman, and sank its teeth into her hand, a local police spokesman said on Thursday. With the squirrel still hanging from her hand, the woman ran onto the street in panic, where she managed to shake it off. The animal then entered a building site and jumped on a construction worker, injuring him on the hand and arm, before he managed to fight it off with a measuring pole. "After that, the squirrel went into the 72-year-old man's garden and massively attacked him on the arms, hand and thigh," the spokesman said. "Then he killed it with his crutch." The spokesman said experts thought the attack may have been linked to the mating season or because the squirrel was ill. MG -

Yeah, I've ordered quite a lot from them recently. I think most of it was sent from Switzerland. They split big orders up into 3/4 disc combos, so I've never had problems with additional customs fees. Everything was delivered rather quick and in excellent shape (all discs were new and still shrink-wrapped). So far I'd really recommend them. Never had any problems and some of their prices are awesome (most of the Blue Note/EMI discs, for example). Sounds OK - thanks Kyo. Post again if you remember to order before I do MG

I'm posting this here, too, because of all the Venus sleeeves, this is: a) restrained; b) sexy; and c) appropriate to the music. What more could you ask? MG -

Marcus was the first trumpet player I really NOTICED - in the Ray Charles days. I really like the album he made with Earl Van Riper. Must dig it out. MG -
I read at plattenladen.com: "low cost delivery: worldwide for only £1.35, with orders over £13.50 delivery free" that sounds interesting, you have any experience with this store, Kyo? here in Amsterdam, we don't have the luxury of a cheap store, without shipping costs, as I read a lot about in stories of US contributors.... JB This looks interesting to me, too. MG

What vinyl are you spinning right now??
The Magnificent Goldberg replied to wolff's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
Not unlucky but just like the rest of us vinyl lovers. Most Riverside recordings were just not up to par. This has been discussed on numerous occasions in various threads before. That implies Keepnews was a cheapskate on pressings - and still managed to go bust! What an effin' genius! MG I don't know well enough Keepnews' story, was he the owner or the Riverside or just an employed producer? Because AFIK a producer has to struggle for the budget of every project with the guys with the money and the big cigar. So maybe we was cheapskate on pressing because he spend the bigger money in recording sessions and artist's contracts. Just guessing. edit: just noted that the above Cannonball's record was produced by Bill Grauer. Now I am listening to THE CANNONBALL QUINTET - In San Francisco - Riverside stereo black label, Grauer is the producer of this too, and it's pretty good pressing on a good quality vinyl. I understand that Grauer and Keepnews were partners. MG -

Agree with you on Rough House Blues...but not Lush Life which I find to be gorgeous and Lou's tone on ballads is a pure joy. I like "Lush life" very much - but I don't think the setting was quite right for Lou. MG -
He made a very pleasant LP for World Pacific with Charles Kynard. A bit small, but it's called "Warm winds". Collette is on flute. There's some nice tenor playing somewhere in my collection, but I can't think of where... MG
