  1. Rewatching The State Within BBC (2006)
  2. The Shadow Line Episode 5 Brilliant show. The whole sequence at the clockmakers was classic. I wonder why there are no comments about this, is nobody watching ?
  3. Thinking that the days of shelling out for costly watches has come to end and with the advent of the cheap throw away type. Case in point, my watch has rusty mechanisms, repair cost would be $150. My shiny new timepiece was just $1.29. Brave new world.
  4. All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace Part 2 BBC Headspinning. There was enough information packed into pt 2 to start several threads . Another viewing mandatory, and a third maybe. It's extraordinary that the BBC can come up with programmes like this.
  5. I don't recall it having that name when originally aired here - could be my defective memory. Or was it added to give it a snappier title? Am I right in recalling that this had a section looking at how target driven cultures end up with employees distorting everything to hit the target with examples from the NHS and the police? Boy does that ring home in the education field! The Trap is part of the title sequence. The point you make is mentioned in the first episode. I think his arguments are sometimes thin and don't hold up to careful scrutiny but his originality is refreshing and thought provoking.
  6. Bev The series I'm watching, The Trap, is What Happened to Our Dream Of Freedom. It has a long title and a shorter one for some reason. I really enjoyed the first part of the new series and am looking forward to this week's episode
  7. Rewatched The Trap
  8. I can only manage eight out of thirteen. But I'm an old codger in most respects. Definitely in the right age group. Most of the musical phobias don't apply,I try to stay open minded about music. The refs to Collets and 'The Beiderbecke Affair' are lost on me. Being a fully paid up member of The South Yorks Socialists For The Abolition Of The Monarchy I can assure you I didn't watch 'The Wedding'
  9. House finale WTF ? The Shadow Line Episode 4
  10. Frontline WikiSecrets
  11. Mainly Italian roast coffee but I like Chai and have developed a taste for Matcha, powdered green tea. Matcha ice cream and especially Matcha parfait are irresistible.
  12. All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace Part 1 BBC Three cheers for the Beeb and Adam Curtis.
  13. Homicide-Life On The Street Season 5 Very impressive level of story telling makes compulsive viewing. Michelle Forbes enters the proceeding as the new medical examiner with style and confidence. A lot of these episodes could easily be fleshed out to a film length thriller. :tup
  14. Don't take this the wrong way but I've always been puzzled at American's consumption of seemingly large amounts 'soda', we call it pop in England and have recently learned that it's also called 'pop' in Detroit. I used to like Tizer and Dandelion & Burdock when I was a kid but almost never drink pop now. I do like a can of Daddy's Root Beer now and again but find Coke & Pepsi unpalatable. I
  15. Thinking about Arabi Mochi
  16. Thinking that I wish I could get my hands on the fucker who has slashed my wife's bicycle tyres, twice.
  17. The Shadow Line Episode three Great stuff. Love the Pinteresque dialogue and villians and the super sharp photography is very impressive.
  18. Bones Shit, why did they do that to Vincent, he was such an interesting witty character.
  19. Mentalist The Shadow Line episode 2 Vera episode 2
  20. Thinking that the new style vegetable curry was very successful.
  21. What to say, it seemed almost like a series finale but also opened up a huge number of questions. Fringe is amazing, for me it completely eclipses the over rated Lost. Some other goodies I've been enjoying from the BBC, who have been on a roll lately. Exile Journalist returns home and starts to piece together a dark story involving his Alzheimer stricken dad. Very well done three part drama with a good story that had plenty of juicy twists. The Crimson Petal & The White Nobody does Victoriana like the BBC and I think they have outdone themselves with this brilliant four part drama. Gillian Anderson shows that her fine performance in Bleak House was not a one off fluke. The Shadow Line Only the first part so far but it was excellent, dark, creepy and tantalizing.
  22. Pickled aubergines with ginger. Scrumptous.
  23. Thinking that I spend an excessive amount of time thinking about food ! For instance - Shibazuke, part of today's lunch.
