  1. Merry Xmas Vic and everyone else. Our Xmas bird is coming from the local Indian restaurant this year.
  2. As you've all said, an important historical figure and a sad loss.
  3. That's next on the list after Spiral. Have you had chance to watch Homeland yet? For all the obvious nods to The Manchurian Candidate methinks it's the most gripping new tv show in ages. The missus thinks so too. Don't miss it when it arrives in Blighty.
  4. Spirals Season 2
  5. That's terribly sad news. His views were always incisive, whether you agreed or not his is a sad loss
  6. Many happy returns. Take your pick.
  7. This week's Boss. Great show !
  8. It seems we are lucky in Tokyo with some things at least. I have a fibre optic broadband connection with download speeds of 700kb/s and over. NTT did all the installation of the outside junction box which covers all our block for free. The two routers also came with the monthly fee of 4500 yen (34 sterling/$62) and also cover telephone service.
  9. I'm strictly a fibre optic land line user. If you've ever seen the giant Tokyo phone directories you'll understand why I throw - actually heave with some difficulty- them straight into the garbage. I like the idea of using them as rudimentary bookshelves !
  10. Great, this must be the best documentary on Woody. I really enjoyed it.
  11. The Jive Five The Four Satins Three Cool Cats
  12. Do they still do that 'Endurance' show? I don't know, Sidewinder. I do not watch any tv except PBS newshour and the odd cooking programme. TV here is terrible beyond words, we don't even have an evening news slot anymore, just a two hour sprawling news cum entertainment session, into which might be sandwiched about 5 minutes of hard foreign news, along with cute pet antics, surveys of noodle shops, surveys of hot spas with scantily dressed models, tips for budget meals and oddball news from around the country. Imagine The Sun running a tv news programme and you won't be far off the truth.
  13. Slow or otherwise, any form of tv is preferable to truly abysmal Japanese tv.
  14. Hell On Wheels Great but the indians should not have been speaking perfect English ! Native language plus subtitles would have given it a much more realism. Apart from that it was excellent.
  15. Reflections.
  16. Coffin nail anyone ?
  17. Homeland The plot thickens. This was a good episode and I'm enjoying the show very much.
