  1. I've read somewhere on-line (can't find the link, sorry) that Martin wrote a brand new orchestration to back the sparse all-acoustic demo of Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (the original of which can be found on on of the "Anthology" releases). Martin said that it will be the very last "new" authentic Beatles orchestration in the history of the group. I love that demo, and can't wait to hear the newly orchestrated version.
  2. (It gets really good/bad past 1:18, and as it says in the comments -- "Does he really say "Beware of the llamas" at 03:33?")
  3. Wouldn't take much to bump Hasaan Ibn Ali's entry from the "Leaders" list to a full sessionography ("Artist Discography") entry for him. Just that one Max Roach session, correct??
  4. James Bond Songbook
  5. Non-Political?? Thread should be moved to the politics forum, or deleted.
  6. and what were you searching for when you found this?? Stumbled on a Youtube user who had LOTS of footage of music acts from the 70's (disco, soft-rock, and other such schlock). I think I was looking for some George Harrison clips (anything I hadn't ever seen before), and then one click on a particular user name, and BLAMMO -- there I was in the middle of 200 videos from the 70's. Had to page through the list, and clicked on a few here and there, was was surprised to see this one (above).
  7. Who knew there was a promo video for this?? Better yet, WHY would there have been a video for this??
  8. Use of the word "jazzed" has never not bugged me.
  9. Honestly, you're better off not knowing... Wouldn't we all be!!
  10. Have you gotten Passing Ships yet, Chewy?? Cuz if you haven't, you still need to. Get on it!!
  11. Build a better product, and people will buy it. They'll even pay a premium for it. It ain't that hard to figure out -- and if the American automakers can't figure that out, then they're putting the nails in their own coffins. When Toyota and Hondas routinely get 200,000+ miles per vehicle, even quite often 300,000+ miles --- and comparable cars from U.S. auto manufacturers only get some fraction of that --- it's no wonder that Toyota and Honda are winning this race.
  12. I had considered that...but the guy (who posted) is very white. Regardless, neat video, imo. ????? I was suggesting you contact the person who uploaded the video, on the assumption that he SHOT the video -- not that he was the player IN the video.
  13. Long shot, but this appears to be the guy who uploaded the video. Maybe e-mail him, and see if he knows, or can upload some more footage that shows the guy's face. http://www.philbennett.org
  14. I did too. Guy Ditto here. And concerning both of them -- I liked and still like ELO. But Lynne's more recent handywork of the last 20 years (particularly on Harrison's solo records, Orbison, Petty, Del Shannon, etc...) kinda drives me a bit crazy. In particular, the drums on Lynn-directed dates frequently have not one bit of life in them. Don't know if it's just the drum sound itself (which might as well be a drum machine), or the player (which might as well be a drum machine), but either way (or both), it's leaving me colder and colder with each passing year since those recordings were issued (post circa 1986, let's say -- wasn't "Cloud Nine" '87?). But, FWIW, I really loved Lynn's participation in "The Concert For George" (maybe he had no influence on the drummer(s)!!). I think "The Concert for George" is one of the finest "tribute albums" of any kind. For my money -- Lynn, Clapton, and McCartney -- in particular -- turn in some of their finest performances in years.
  15. Thanks!! - 'tis spinning now.
  16. It's certainly his most recent release. I've heard from a friend, who's friends with the owner of Capri Records -- that supposedly there's a whole 'nother album of Moncur tunes, also recorded by nearly the same group as Exploration. I wouldn't say I have that on good authority, but that's what I've heard -- take it for what it's worth.
  17. Everything I've been reading about the YB's (mostly just over the last 24 hours), jives with your assessment, Teasing the Korean. I think it's these live clips with Page that have really impressed me (much more than likely the studio stuff will), and I'll likely pick up a bunch of the Beck-era YB's stuff too.
  18. If you're ever in Dallas, liste to The Flashback Cafe on KDGE and know that it already is. Yeah, we heard a similar station in Denver when we were on vacation back around Labor Day. DJ's totally had that upbeat "moldy oldies" vibe goin' on, but it was "all 80's and early 90's" (that's how they billed what they played). "The music you remember" ( ) was another tagline I'm pretty sure I heard. That pissed off my wife like you wouldn't believe!!!! (And don't think I didn't milk it for all it's worth -- since she'll be turning 40 in a year or two --- a full 18 months BEFORE I do. ) Yes, I'm evil. No, I very carelfully choose when to be evil, and when not to. (I'd be a fool not to!! )
  19. The man takes time out of his busy afterlife to visit you in your dreams, and this is how you repay him? Well, he could just buy him a sammich.
  20. HERE's a seemingly legit issue of the German TV footage above (in both audio and video form). Includes some version of "Dazed and Confused" as well. Doesn't seem to be available anywhere, cept' this one used copy on half.com for -- GASP!!! -- $120 (not including shipping). The release is called "Cumular Limit" - and the AMG review confirms that the version of "Dazed and Confused" is from the video recorded in France (below). Damn, I gotta get me this somehow. (But not for $120.) "Cumular Limit"
  21. No truer words...
  22. OK, digging around on-line (AMG reviews, Amazon reviews, other random sources), it appears that this is probably my best option -- given the weakness of the Yardbird studio sessions with Page (though reviews of that, even, are mixed). Either that, or else this...
  23. Only a matter of time before the "New Wave" is the new "Oldies".
  24. More Youtube for me to follow-up on later... Yardbirds Documentary - Part 1 Yardbirds Documentary - Part 2 Yardbirds Documentary - Part 3 Edit: one more -- History of Rock -N- Roll Guitar Heroes Part 4 Haven't looked at any of these. Between all four clips (total), there's something like 30-40 minutes of material.
